Governor's Balloon Safaris Hot air balloon safaris operator since 1978. We offer the best flight path over the Masai Mara. We operate 2-4 balloons daily depending on the season.

Governors' has been pioneering immersive and transformational safaris in the Mara since 1972. We were the first operators to be permanently based inside the Mara for a permanent tented camp and our hot air balloon safaris. Unfenced and right in the heart of the action, our camps are located in some of the best and most precious wildlife locations, right in the heart of the action. We are a family

with a colourful 'cast of characters' that embodies the spirit of safari, while placing the care of the environment, community and conservation at the heart of everything we do. Governors' Balloon Safaris is the prime ballooning operator in the Masai Mara, with a natural launch site located at Little Governor's Camp.

Good explanation from Gilbert, our very experienced pilot. We were welcomed at the launch site with coffee. And my goodness, what a view. Too much to mention. Not to forget the champagne breakfast with all delicious freshly prepared things. In the middle of the Mara - a million dollar breakfast. I will definitely come back soon with my whole family. When given the option to fly in a hot air balloon and watch the sunrise over the Masai Mara, the only answer is YES! Do I have a fear of heights? Yes. For some reason though I didn’t think, I just went for it without hesitation. No regrets, it was epic! We were fortunate to have perfect conditions so the ride was very smooth and calming. I felt like a drone hovering over one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The only part that was a little unnerving was landing which I couldn’t record for safety reasons of course. Our pilot nailed it and I’m here to tell you the story! Our Story

For over 40 years Governors’ has been pioneering safaris, setting the standard for the classic African safari experience. Today, the Governors’ Camp Collection comprises 8 award winning luxury safari camps and lodges. We are the first hot air balloon operator in the Mara since the early 1970’s and we have flown more than 100,000 happy guests, over the best flight path in the Mara since then!

The adventure begins just before dawn. Departure is from a perfect natural launch site behind Little Governors’ Camp and flames from the balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first pink tongues of sunlight flicker across the skies as the balloon envelope fills with hot air, then rises. Suspended in a basket beneath the coloured canopy, you’re off for a wildlife viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. What amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness: the silence as you float above all the magic of the Mara unfolding below you!
