Our travel agency is in place to work towards ‘responsible volunteering’, this is a phrase heard more and more these days as people begin to realize the importance of it. To make sure our volunteers are always educated and have a good understanding of why they are here, what they are here to do, and how their help is important. Unfortunately, volunteer travel has grown and become a profitable mar
ket for many companies. Many companies are sending out volunteers without doing any background checks or assuring that they are suitable for the role they intend to take on. In many cases this can do far more harm than good. To do so, we must focus on getting more travel agencies to take responsibility when it comes to providing volunteers to third world countries. Industry growing why ? The current growth of the orphanage industry is startling; in Cambodia alone it is thought that 3 out of every 4 children in an orphanage has one or more living parents. Unfortunately Cambodia is just one example out of many. Instead of being a safe haven for children, orphanages are becoming a business and a money making scheme. Our priority is getting to the core of this issue, beginning with the families that are giving up their children to this industry. We focus on working towards developing sustainable communities by helping create jobs so local individuals can earn salaries to support their families. Working alongside the locals we are able to listen to their wants and needs. By doing this we feel we can really direct our help to the right places and instead of enforcing our ideas on the communities we can provide the support to turn their own ideas into a reality. There is no overnight solution but piece by piece your help makes a world of difference to the communities and families we work with. Our first priority is 100 % safety of the children we help ! Our number one priority is the safety of the children. We work closely with each organization by educating them on the importance of protecting children and helping them to fully enforce the policies that secure the safety of every child. We work directly on the ground with each organization, we are not a third party company, this means we can make sure your money goes into the projects where it is needed most and does not get lost in the admin costs of an international company.
