APSARA AUTHORITY CODE OF CONDUCT AND DRESS CODE FOR VISITORS TO THE TEMPLES.

We welcomed the Visitor Code of Conduct when it was introduced last year, because it made an excellent reference guide for visitors.

The Apsara Authority will be strictly enforcing a responsible dress code from August 4th 2016. Shorts or skirts below the knees, and covered chest and shoulders’ are the minimum requirements.

We have encouraged this dress code from the beginning as we feel is essential when visiting religious or other important sites.

To avoid disappointment, please remember this dress code when preparing for your trip!

Mango Cambodia today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence. Now in its sixth year, the achievement celebrates hospitality businesses that have earned great traveler reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year. Certificate of Excellence recipients include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a quality customer experience.

Warren Garber, General Manager of Mango Cambodia said he was ‘thrilled’ to receive the award. He continued “We are one of the few tour operators that have been awarded this Certificate of Excellence every year since its inception in 2011. This award is accepted by me on behalf of all our staff who continuously strive to deliver the best possible experience for all of our guests”.

"With the Certificate of Excellence, TripAdvisor honors hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travelers,” said Heather Leisman, Vice President of Industry Marketing, TripAdvisor. “This recognition helps travelers identify and book properties that regularly deliver great service. We're now coming towards the main days of Cambodia's 'Pchum Ben' season for 2015. This uniquely Cambodian festival is spread over 15 days each year, based on the 10th month of the lunar calendar- culminating on the 12th October.

Also known as 'Ancestors Day', congregations at pagodas pray for their deceased relatives - generally wearing the traditional colour of mourning - which in Cambodia is actually white.

As with many holidays and beliefs in Cambodia - food plays a big part. Offerings are made by almost all of the population of Cambodia, to Buddhist monks at local pagodas throughout the country, in the belief that their ancestors will receive this food also. My wife took a few photos this morning, at her family's local pagoda at Prek Eng, on the outskirts of the city, which nicely capture the meanings.

Phnom Penh today is very busy as many people do their last-minute shopping before most businesses close. Hundreds of thousands of city dwellers will head to their 'homeland' - the villages and towns in Cambodia's provinces, for a 4 or 5 days break, with their families.

Mango of course honour this holiday for its staff and they will also be heading away today. Our office will reopen fully on Wednesday 14th October, but of course someone will be here to answer emails and enquiries in-between.

Cambodia and its people never fail to amaze me – for many reasons. A couple of which are their expressions and especially their smiles. :-)

Simply walking around the local streets with a camera is a great way to capture these.

One of the many great things about living in Phnom Penh, is how easy it is to nip away for the weekend to Kep, around 3 hours drive from here.

Kep is one of my favourite places in Cambodia - relatively undeveloped, stunning sunsets and it never fails to to delight me, with it's simple but great ocean-side shack restaurants.

One dish that I always order at Kim Ly, is Shrimp with their amazing Kamopt green pepper sauce.

Of course Rick Stein and the Beeb were in the area filming a while ago. As a fellow Brit, I agree his recipe is pretty good, but it still 'ain't the real thing'.

I'd love to hear of any other recipes that visitors have tried back home.
