The Bayon Temple has a unique and, yes, somewhat mysterious history. It was the last great state temple constructed within the Angkor complex by the Buddhist King Jayavarman VII near the end of his life in the late 12th or early 13th century.

📍Banteay Srei temple, situated in Banteay Srey Village, Banteay Srey Commune, Banteay Srey District, Siem Reap Province, is about 39 km north of Siem Reap.

🍀🌿This renowned temple stands out for its exquisite pink stone construction adorned with incredibly detailed carvings. With its three elegant towers, it is often described as graceful as a perfect woman. The construction is credited to the courtiers’ named courtiers named Yajnavaraha, a teacher of the king Jayavarman V, dedicated to Brahmanism.

Preah Khan was built on the site of Jayavarman VII's victory over the invading Chams in 1191. Unusually the modern name, meaning "holy sword", is derived from the meaning of the original—Nagara Jayasri (holy city of victory).

430 other deities also had shrines on the site, each of which received an allotment of food, clothing, perfume and even mosquito nets; the wealth and treasure of this ruin includes gold, silver, gems, 112,300 pearls and a cow with gilded horns.

Koh Ker Temple 🇰🇭 is a remote archaeological site in northern Cambodia about 120 kilometres (75 mi) away from Siem Reap and the ancient site of Angkor. Koh Ker is the modern name for an important city of the Khmer empire.

Under the reign of the kings Jayavarman IV and Harshavarman II Koh Ker was briefly the capital of the whole empire (928–944 AD).

Considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of Angkorian art, Banteay Srei is cut from stone of a pinkish hue and includes some of the finest stone carving anywhere on earth. Begun in 967 CE, it is one of the smallest sites at Angkor, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in stature.
