šš¢šØāš©āš§āļø Enough is Enough! Letās Address the Traffic Crisis in St. Kitts and Nevis
Over the past 8-10 weeks, our federation has experienced a heartbreaking and unprecedented rise in car accidents. This cannot continue. The loss of livesāmany of them young and full of potentialāis devastating, and itās time for action.
The recent tragedy of a toddler losing their life is a loss for all of us. An innocent child, not even given the chance to celebrate their first birthday, is gone. This is more than a wake-up callāitās a plea for change.
To the Government and Traffic Department:
We urge you to consider stricter traffic regulations and implement modern, strategic measures to combat this growing crisis. Routine traffic stops are not enough. Itās time to approach this issue with urgency and innovation to protect lives.
To Motorists, Cyclists, and Pedestrians:
Letās all take responsibility. Careless driving, stunts on busy roads, and reckless speeding are putting everyone at risk. We plead with motorcyclists and cyclists to think twice about endangering lives with dangerous behavior.
To Passenger Bus Drivers:
Racing on the roads must stop. You carry precious lives in your hands every day. With bus fares increasing, passengers deserve safer, more considerate commutes.
To Our Youth:
Millennials and Gen Alphas, if youāve recently gotten your driverās license or a new car, take your time. Drive responsibly. Live to see yourself achieve your dreams and upgrade to that dream car.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew:
This is a direct appeal to you. Please prioritize this matter with your team and key personnel. We need decisive action now to prevent further loss of life.
Traffic accidents have become a new form of crimeāclaiming innocent lives, causing heartbreak, and devastating families. Letās commit to change, together.
Drive responsibly. Drive with others in mind. Drive with the intention to drive again.
