Expanding Step by Step

TPO – Chinese Taipei

On February 15, 2024, Mr. Kevin Kuo, Director General of the Taipei Mission in Korea, Busan Office, visited the TPO Secretariat.

TPO Secretary General Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha welcomed Director General Kuo and they discussed common goals of promoting tourism and expanding the TPO to serve its members better.

Director General Kuo provided valuable information to the TPO Secretariat team who will visit Tainan to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary next week.

UN Tourism and TPO get together!
On February 6, 2024, a delegation from the TPO Secretariat visited the UN Tourism Headquarters in Madrid, Spain. The two sides engaged in meaningful discussions to explore potential opportunities for collaboration in various areas.
Present were the Affiliate Members Department (AMD) Director Ambassador Ion Vilcu, the Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific Region (RDAP) Director Harry Hwang from UN Tourism along with the TPO Secretary General Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha, Director General Cho Jaedong and Deputy Director Han Areum.
In addition, professional officers from Sustainable Development of Tourism (SDT), Institutional Relations and Partnerships(IRP), Tourism Market Intelligence and, Competitiveness (TMIC), Technical Cooperation and Silk Road (TCSR), and Innovation, Education & Investments (IEI) of the UN Tourism team briefed the TPO Secretariat on their programs of work 2024.
This visit marks a significant step towards enhancing a mutually beneficial partnership between the TPO and UN Tourism.
The TPO Secretariat enjoyed an impressive Spanish dinner hosted by Korean Ambassador to Spain H.E. Mr. BAHK Sahnghoon.

On January 4, 2024, Ms. Charlene Hsueh, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration Busan Office visited the TPO Secretariat.

TPO Secretary General, Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha welcomed Director Hsueh and shared common interests in promoting tourism that are mutually beneficial. Director General Cho Jae-dong and Deputy Director Ooi Ee Lyn from the Secretariat were also present at the meeting.

Da Lat - 130 years!

Congratulations!

The entire TPO community sincerely congratulates Da Lat, 2024 Chair for TPO Vietnamese Members, on the 130th Anniversary of Da Lat’s Formation & Development (1893- 2023).

In celebration of the anniversary, a special evening event was held on December 30, 2023, at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat, Vietnam. The Ceremony highlighted the establishment and development of Da Lat as well as its potential prosperity in the future. The gigantic fireworks concluded the spectacular event enjoyed by a huge crowd. The TPO Secretary General Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha attended as a specially invited VIP.

The TPO looks forward to Da Lat's continued contributions in the TPO activities.

The TPO Secretariat had a bilateral meeting with the Ambassador of Croatia to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Mr. Damir Kusen. The Croatian Embassy briefed the Secretariat on the status of tourism in Croatia, and provided valuable insights on the Globalization of the TPO.

TPO Secretariat attended the Seoul Sustainable Tourism Conference 2023 organized by STO (Seoul Tourism Organization) in cooperation with UNWTO on November 16-17, 2023 in Seoul, Korea. The theme was “One P1anet : Responsible Consumption and Sustainable Travel.”

TPO Secretary General Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha talked about Projects of TPO in Session 3 of "Sharing the Global Institution's Projects for Sustainable Tourism.”

[World EXPO 2030]

The host city of World Expo 2030 will be announced this month, November 28, 2023 at the 173rd General Assembly of the BIE.

TPO Secretary General Ambassador Woo Kyoung-ha was on air on Busan MBC Radio "Jagalchi Ajimae EXPO Special" on Thursday, November 9, 2023 to promote the World Expo 2030.

The 17th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook was held in Guilin, China from October 26-28, 2023.

This forum was organized under the theme of "Transforming Tourism for People, Planet and Prosperity".

As an affiliate member of UNWTO, TPO Secretariat participated at the forum.
