✨Part of our mission is to give back to the temples we work with. This means a portion of every tour profit goes straight back to the temple.

Our guide gave our donation to the temple while on tour the other day, so a lucky group of our guests got to receive a blessing as thanks.

GUESS WHAT?

Our meditation tour SOLD OUT yesterday! This is the first time this tour exclusively has sold out since reopening and we could not be more excited!

Every tour sold helps:
✨increase cultural awareness and educated tourist about Theravada Buddhism in Laos
✨allows our tour guide to receive a dignified living wage
✨boosts the percentage of profits that get donated to the temples we work with so that they can fund renovations to protect and preserve temple art, architecture, and improve general infrastructure (like drum towers and broken steps)
✨gives our tour guides practice and professional experience so that they can achieve their goals

We’re excited to announce the hiring of a new guide! Tay is originally from Chomphet District, across the Mekong from Luang Prabang. He was in the temple for 8 years. Tay joined when he was just 10 years olds, left when he was 18, and is soon to be married!

We can’t wait for Tay to share his experience as a Novice and his knowledge of Buddhist culture with those who join our Cultural Temple Tours!

An excellent question! At ORT, we believe that it’s important to keep it simple and keep it small. We offer two tour types: a Guided Meditation Experience (45 minutes) and Cultural Temple Tour (1 hour). Both tours are held at a local temple with permission from the Abbott.

• Our Cultural Temple Tour aims to give you context for what you’re looking at when you visit a temple (architecture, what the name means, what are the “dragons” for, why there’s a massive drum at each temple, etc.) and what the day in the life of a Novice looks like. It also provides insight into Buddhist beliefs and practices.

• Our Guided Meditation Experience has also been updated! Now they are 45 minutes, with the price reflective of this change. During the meditation experience, you’ll be guided through three types of meditation that are practiced in the temple, and our guide will explain why meditation is central to Buddhist practice.
