All four villages are located in Baabda District just 25 kilometers from the capital Beirut towards east, on an elevation of 950 above sea level. 📜 DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), the French poet and politician, was an orientalist with a particular interest in Lebanon and the Middle East. He travelled to Lebanon, Syria and the Holy Land in 1832–33. Unquestionably, the Lebanese mountains come into literature by Lamartine, giving rise to the greatest number of descriptions of landscapes. Lebanon, its mountains and ruins, inspired the poet much of his "Episode" called “L'épopée de La Chute d'un ange” written in 1838.

The valley where we’re going is called the valley of Lamartine as a commemoration of that visit, he describes the area in his book “Voyage en Orient”. Also, the Lebanon Cedar forest still harbors the “Lamartine Cedar”, which is said to be the Cedar under which Lamartine had sat 200 years ago.

So mark it on your calendar: this December 17, a charity event will take place and we will be hiking at Bentael - Mechhellene to support “Monks of the brothers and Nuns of the Sisters of Jesus crucified” in their mission.

They are taking care of abandoned babies/new born found on their doors and every step, every backing will help them. They bear seeds of authentic faith, and live that faith through prayer and asceticism; they have led a committed community life of brotherly love deep rooted in individual prayers and work hard with their hands.
All the proceeds will go to the convent.

Anfeh is an old town that goes to the Canaanite-Phoenician era. It was mentioned as "Ambi" in Tall-El-Amarina letters, in the 14th century B.C. It was also mentioned in the Assyrian engravings during the reign of King Asr-Hadoun (681-669 B.C).
During the Greek-Roman era, Anfeh was mentioned as "Trieres", which means the ship with three rows of oars.
In the Byzantine Empire, "Trieres" was mentioned in a wider aspect. It was a patriarchal center, and its pastor participated in the Council of Chalcedon in 451 A.C. It was destroyed by the earthquake that hit the Mediterranean eastern coast in the middle of the 6th century (551 A.C). #لبنان

This time we are heading to discover a beautiful village located in Aley District, altitude 700m, 32 km away from Beirut, KFARMATTA, famous for its natural rock fissure called Fizr and its breathtaking scenery overlooking Beirut and the Mediterranean Sea.

The word “Kfar” means town in Latin and the word “Matta” is Matthew’s Monastery. The village dates back to 1300 B.C; we will visit the ruins of a vintage Silk factory, since 1860, where we will hike through the scenery of green and autumn-colored leaves!
From there, we’ll pass by the village till we take an agricultural trail full of olive, orange, and pine trees. We’ll cross on our way to beautiful old mills and we’ll pass by a river-related to Damour river. Our trail will lead us to the famous Al Fizr naturally-formed rock fissure.

Ghosta is a Lebanese village that overlooks the bay of Jounieh with breathtaking panoramic views that stretch from Tripoli to Beirut.

Most of the trail we will pass by, are known for its pine trees that surround the village, and embrace the oaks, and olive trees while hiking and the unique rocks.

We will walk in the narrow streets to see some old landmarks, such as the old olive trees, water springs, Wooden bridges and the old churches including Deir Baklouch, Deir Mar Youhanna El Kreim in Ghosta and Jabal El Rahme, and finally, Deir Ain Warka.

A walk through the Mountain!!!
Jabal Moussa became a natural reserve, it covers an area of 6500 hectares at an altitude ranging between 350 meters and 1750 meters. The main villages are Qehmez, Nahr el Dahab, Yahchouch, Ghbale, Aabre and Chouwan.
The Jabal Moussa biosphere reserve presents a rich diversity of flora and fauna. At least 350 flora species are found in the reserve, and it’s a Global Important Bird Area (IBA) as per Bird Life International criteria.

Amazing Trail, Ehden Forest with Dale Corazon – L.E.

The magnificent golden and green forest mixed with oak, pine, cedars and many other plant species makes the trail one of the best in Lebanon, especially during this season. It’s wonderful!!!
The importance of the Ehden forest (Horsh Ehden) became universal due to the uniqueness of its climate, plants, and trees particularly the Cedars and the fir trees. Thus, the Horsh came to be the center of interest and destination for every stroller and tourist.
