Elran Wilson began his journey at Bay Gardens Resorts in 2009, joining the team as a bartender. Over the last 15 years, his growth is exemplified through position advancements from bartender to Bar Supervisor, Acting Food & Beverage Service Manager and now the Bar Manager at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa.

When asked what he liked about working at Bay Gardens Resorts, he explains that he is very passionate about what he does. He loves experimenting with new drinks and sharing them with guests.

Wilson further explained that being able to positively contribute to guests’ Saint Lucian experience brings him joy, and getting to do it with a locally- owned resort chain is even more rewarding. He regards his love for his family as his primary source of inspiration. “I want to make them proud and provide for them, and ultimately make myself proud” he remarked.

One of his most memorable moments here would have been during a hurricane when the country was shut down and he and his team were unable to go home. In an effort to make this worrying ordeal a little better, Wilson remembers engaging with guests throughout the hurricane and catering to their needs to which they were very grateful. From this experience Wilson mentioned that he has made meaningful friendships with guests, who keep in touch to date.

When Wilson is not at Bay Gardens Resorts, he enjoys hitting the gym and playing sports, particularly football. Currently, he coaches the Bay Gardens Resorts’ futsal team.

In the future, he hopes to own his own business and explore opportunities for continued personal development. We thank him for his commitment to Bay Gardens Resorts and we look forward to more great things from him.

The SLHTA has no objections to the upcoming implementation of a minimum wage on October 1st, 2024. With tourism being the largest contributor to Saint Lucia’s Gross Domestic Product and accounting for the highest number of jobs, the Association is hopeful that it will foster a more equitable environment that benefits the country as a whole.

During the planning phase, the Minimum and Equal Wages Commission engaged the SLHTA in numerous productive sessions, which provided our vast membership with opportunities to discuss the wage’s impact on operations, voice their concerns and make recommendations to the legislation.

Thank you for choosing Saint Lucia!

In July 2024, Saint Lucia experienced a significant tourism boost, welcoming 41,476 visitors—a remarkable 32% increase from the previous year.

This surge is attributed to the vibrant Lucian Carnival, American Airlines' introduction of a second daily flight from Miami, and JetBlue's additional daily flight from New York. The US market led this influx with a 52% year-over-year rise, while notable increases were also seen from the UK, Caribbean, and Canada. 🇱🇨

The SLHTA is highly encouraged by the strong performance of Saint Lucia’s tourism sector thus far in 2024. The industry has continued to achieve significant milestones, with impressive gains in visitor arrivals and overall industry growth.

The industry is now moving into the annual slower season, which includes the months of September and October. The slow season is marked by a contraction in airlift and lower occupancy levels. This period is not unique to Saint Lucia but is also experienced by numerous islands in the region.

During this time contraction in staffing levels and layoffs are not unusual due to low occupancy and/or temporary closure.

Meet Ms. Ria Magloire. This young lady has been a part of the Bay Gardens Resorts family for a little over 2 years, working with the Reservations Department as a Reservations Agent. Ria describes her time at Bay Gardens Resorts as quite an interesting experience thus far.

She explains that she looks forward to showing up to work and learning something new every day. Another element that piques her interest is the diversity and unique identities of each of our properties.

When asked what her most memorable moment at Bay Gardens Resorts is, she exclaimed that she has many, but the ones that stand out to her the most are the times she receives positive compliments on her professionalism and customer service from guests and management.

In her free time, Ms. Magloire enjoys dancing and exploring the outdoors by way of tours and sightseeing.

When asked what her inspiration was, she noted that she loves to inspire others. She added “I would love that my hard work and drive would inspire others to do just the same”

While she maintains her positive and hard-working disposition about her current role, Ria is excited about her future with Bay Gardens Resorts and mentions that she is ready and willing to accept greater challenges.

Bay Gardens Resorts thanks Ria for her service and commitment, and we look forward to more great things from her!
