Buduruvagala,
a scenie jungle hideout is in a rock clearing of magical forest.The colossal standing Buddha image and Mahayana Bodhisattva figures with their attendants carved in high relief on a massive rock reveal the skilled craftsmanship of the Sri Lankan artists of that time.
Though, there are no archaeological or historie sources regarding the exact period of the work, it is possible to date back the craftsmanship to the 8th -9th centuries A.D. from the appearance of the sculptures.It is our duty to safeguard these isolated beautiful scenie Buddhist carvings for future generation
