This secluded island on Bolgoda Lake will breathe new life into you. Just a 45 minute drive from the hustle of Colombo you’ll get time out to completely refresh and renew. You’ll bask in a special tranquility that comes from being surrounded on all sides by water, swaying palm trees and river birds. Spend sunset here in the pool with spectacular views of the lake. Taking up one acre of land, The Island on Bolgoda offers you a peaceful day out where deciding whether to paint, swim, fish or play sports are the only worries you’ll have. Chill in a hammock, play cricket on the lawn or bathe in the infinity pool with its magnificent views of the lake. This is one of few islands on Bolgoda Lake, all of which have been shrouded in mystery. It was home to one of Geoffrey Bawa's associates, ground-breaking Danish Architect Ulrik Plesner in the 1960s. Plesner's desk in one of the upstair's bedrooms overlooked the lake giving him creative inspiration and solitude. For over 50 years it has been a family-owned island. The family have recently renovated the house and opened it up for others to share this unique experience. The Island on Bolgoda offers a house with 3 bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms, large airy open verandas and lounging and dining areas; facilities for cooking, electricity and running water for bathing; a beautiful shady lawn with infinity swimming pool. About Bolgoda Lake:
Bolgoda Lake has a rich eco-system, with a Mangrove habitat and a wide biodiversity of fauna and flora. The lake area receives an annual rainfall of about 2569mm and the mean annual temperature is around 27C.
