Kanneliya Rain Forest
It is considered one of the most floristically rich areas in South Asia. This forest area, along with the Sinharaja Rainforest, is the last remaining major rainforest in Sri Lanka. The forest is located 35 km northwest of Galle city. It is an important basin of two major rivers in southern Sri Lanka, the Gin Ganga and Nilwala Ganga. The Kanneliya Forest Reserve was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2004 and is home to many endemic plant and animal species.
