🇱🇰🐆🏝🏜 The Sri Lankan leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) is a subspecies of leopard found exclusively on the island of Sri Lanka. It is one of eight recognized subspecies of leopards in the world and is considered to be critically endangered, with a population of less than 1,000 individuals.
The Sri Lankan leopard is slightly smaller than other leopard subspecies, with a distinctive rosette pattern on its coat. It has adapted to the diverse habitats found in Sri Lanka, including the dense jungles, dry plains, and rocky outcrops. Yala National Park is one of the best places to spot these leopards in their natural habitat, but they can also be found in other national parks and protected areas across the country.
Observing the Sri Lankan leopard in the wild is a memorable and rewarding experience. However, it is important to remember that these are wild animals and should be treated with respect. Safaris and guided tours in national parks offer the opportunity to see this magnificent creature while supporting conservation efforts in Sri Lanka. 🌿🐆🏝

⛰️👣ADAM'S PEAK (SRIPADE)

This sacred mountain of Sri Lanka, also known as Adam's Peak or Sri Pada (7,360 ft) is one of the most iconic and natural structures on the paradise island.
On the hike to the summit there is a depression which resembles a giant footprint, which is regarded with importance by the followers of all four religions of the country.
The Buddhists considers this to be Lord Buddha's footprint and the Hindus considers it as that of the god Shiva, while the Muslims and Christians believe this to be the footprint of Adam. The Portuguese invaders subsequently attributed the impression to be of St. Thomas the Apostle.
There are 2 routes hikers can take up to the top of Adams Peak Mountain, one is the most known route Hatton-Nallathanniya route and the other is the Ratnapura route…
The hike to the summit of Adams peak takes about 4-5 hours depending on the speed of your climb and is recommended to do the hike in the night time around 23.00, so then once you reach the summit you will be greeted by spectacular views of the rising morning sunrise. The view from the top is guaranteed to take your breath away!
The mountain is surrounded by one of the last remaining mountain wilderness areas known as the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary which is a cloud forest which links with the Horton Plains eco-system.

🇱🇰 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, the annual Kandy Esala Perahera festival is a celebration of color and life. The celebration gives proper respect to the sacred Sanctuary of the Tooth Artifact, which holds a tooth of the Buddha. The occasion includes a motorcade of carefully dressed elephants, conventional entertainers, performers, and brilliantly lit lights, making it a banquet for the eyes of spectators. The peak of the festival happens on the last evening, when the tooth artifact is conveyed in a parade with in excess of 50 elephants going with it. The Kandy Esala Perahera is an exceptional social encounter that mixes Buddhism, dance, and music, making it an unmissable occasion for the travelers and inhabitants the same.
