Hiking in a tropical rainforest of Sinharaja. Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a jungle in southern Sri Lanka declared UNESCO Natural Heritage Site in 1988, and is home to rare and endemic species. Sinha means “lion” and Raja means “king,” and visitors can enjoy hiking along rainforest trails and observing the unique vegetation of the forest. The area is densely covered with trees with an average height of 35 to 40 meters. Of the 211 confirmed tree species, 139 are endemic.

Horton Plains, Sri Lanka’s only national park declared a World Heritage Site, is an scenic highland plateau popular with hikers. There is no doubt that the World’s End hike features one of the country’s most beautiful lookout points.The park is known for its cloud forests and grasslands, with trails along the way where you can observe streams, waterfalls, and endemic plants. Early in the morning, a circular hike through the rich vegetation of the park lead you to "World's End" a 1,000 meter-high cliff. ”Minneriya National Park -Elephant Gathering” A few years ago, about 300 elephants gathered between May and August for the Gathering, but for the past two years, they seem to be gathering from late August to early October. Although we did not see as many as in the "big gathering" (about 80), it was heartwarming to see the Sri Lankan elephants in their "natural behavior" and not worrying too much about the jeeps. This small green barbet has a very colorful face with a red forehead, orange around the eyes, blue on the sides of the face, and yellow on the throat.
