Continuing on our way, we will arrive at the Ancient City of Anuradhapura. Founded as the capital of Sinhalese civilization in the 4th century BC, it was the most important city of Buddhist learning. Some of the most important places of worship are among its many ancient buildings. The most amazing of these is the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, a sacred fig tree planted from a branch of Maha Bodhi, the tree under which Buddha achieved enlightenment.

Among the ruins of this city stands the Vanavan Mahadevisvaram, a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva from the 11th century AD, which today looks almost the same as when it was built.
Afterward, we will embark on a Jeep Safari through Minneriya National Park. This national park is located near the Minneriya Wewa, a dammed lake constructed in the 3rd century AD. During the dry season, it is teeming with life, as the animals from the surrounding area migrate in search of food and water.

A short drive from the temple is the Ramboda Ella, a 109 meters tall waterfall which makes it the 11th tallest in Sri Lanka.
