Ideal for family reunions, groups of friends or anyone wanting a relaxing getaway. The villa is situated in a stunningly beautiful location on a hillside overlooking Koggala lake, just over a mile from the beach and 20mins from Galle, but in total tranquillity, far away from the noise and crowds. Set in a 1.5 acre garden, at the end of a finger of land extending into the lake, it is accessed via a
200m single track through the cinnamon plantations which are the only neighbours. The villa is fully staffed and our villa manageress, Sonali, speaks excellent English and will ensure you have a wonderful time. She is also an exceptional cook and will prepare all your meals and shop for you, if you wish. All dietary requirements and preferences can be catered for. Meals are not included in the rental price, but the only additional cost is for the ingredients and transport, so you can eat and drink what and when you like at a fraction of restaurant prices. Completed in mid 2012 gaining a National Construction Association award, using antique doors and windows, the villa is a mix of traditional charm and modern comforts, laid out to maximise the glorious views across the lake. The villa was designed to be naturally ventilated, benefiting from a 8-15m elevation over the lake and its cooling breeze. Entering the property you have fantastic views across the infinity swimming pool to the lake and the extensive garden which surrounds the villa. The main living room has a comfortable sitting area with 3 large daybeds, cool polished cement flooring and grand staircase going up to the first floor. The fully equipped kitchen with 2 large fridges is accessed through an archway while the other end of the sitting room leads you to an air-conditioned cinema room with an LED HD projector which provides a 120inch screen, extensive hard drive film library and surround sound system with a DVD player. There is also a range of games and plenty of reading material. 4G WiFi is also included. Panel doors open out from the kitchen and sitting room onto the 20m veranda which forms the main outdoor dining room and living area. The dining table comfortably seats 10 and the seating area has plenty of loungers, chairs and a large coffee table, all overlooking the 15m x 7m infinity pool. All outdoor floor surfaces (including the inviting pale green slate of the pool) have been chosen for comfort and are non-slip under your bare feet. All four bedrooms have views of the lake and have large en-suite walk in shower rooms. Two are located upstairs, offering a panorama of the whole lake. The master bedroom (7.5 x 6 m) has wooden flooring re-laid from two antique houses, while bedroom two (5m x 4m) has a polished cement floor. Both rooms have 4 poster super-king size (6ft wide) beds and overhead fans. They share a vast balcony with built in seating to either end and a wooden balconied central area with wooden loungers which forms the perfect spot to relax and take in your beautiful surroundings. The third bedroom (5 x 4 m) has its own veranda and sits alongside the pool. It has 2 single four poster beds that can be joined to form a super-king size bed if required and ceiling fan. The fourth bedroom (5 x 4 m) is situated garden side, offering a particularly private location closer to the lake and has a private veranda and seating, super-king size four poster bed and ceiling fan. All bedrooms have lockable wardrobes and there is a wall safe in the main bedroom. Wheelchair access is possible to ground floor. Bed 3, Lounge, Kitchen, Cinema room, Dining area and Veranda are on a single level. All doors are doubles and the carport is linked to main house by a flat path. The garden attracts a variety of colourful birds from kingfishers to a pair of peacocks which roost in one of the many trees. Monkeys and monitor lizards are regular visitors and a special attraction is the evening fly-past of hundreds of fruit bats, as they circle the lake on their nightly flight to the inland jungle to feed. On a clear night the lack of light pollution makes stargazing a must. Chill by the lake and call out to the local fishermen for their catch of prawns, fish and crab and have Sonali prepare them for you. Walk down the cinnamon track and along the road to the long, sandy beach (around 25 minutes), stopping to chat with the local schoolchildren. If you can tear yourself away from the villa, the World Heritage site Galle fort is about a 20 minute drive away and makes an enjoyable day out. Whale watching, diving & snorkelling, temples, wildlife safaris, beaches, shopping and restaurants are all easily accessible and transport will be arranged on request.
