BUDURUWAGALA TEMPLE
Buduruwagala Temple is located 7 kilometers south of Wellawaya, about 40 kilometers south of Ella , in the province of Uva, near a small lake surrounded by jungle. The place is secluded and calm, among untouched nature, wild animals still live. About 50 years ago, a local resident discovered a Gray-blue rock here, resembling the shape of an elephant kneeling. Its length is 90 meters, height is about 21 meters. Seven images are carved on the rock; the name translated means “mountain of Buddhist sculptures.” The history of the origin of this place is shrouded in uncertainty; there are no chronicles or other reliable written sources that can shed light on the mystery of Buduruvagala. The bas-relief dates back to the 9th - 10th centuries. There is a hypothesis that previously the rock was inside a wooden temple, and the images were painted, since even in our time traces of heavy-duty and durable “diamond” plaster have been preserved.
To the left of the base-relief of the Buddha is a seven-meter image of Avalokiteshvara, next to which is depicted Pandaravasina, personifying his wisdom; the lower part of the image is poorly visible, and, apparently, was never completed. On the right is her sister Tara, symbolising his compassion. One of the many beautiful and profound legends about Tara says that she was born from the tears of Avalokiteshvara, which he shed while contemplating the suffering of this world. To the right of the Buddha are three more images. In the center is the image of Maitreya, the future Buddha. Below, to the left of the Buddha statue, there is a depression in the rock called an “oil lamp”. Inexplicably, from time to time the stone inside the cavity begins to bleed myrrh, you can smell the characteristic smell of mustard oil, and the surface is slightly oily to the touch.
Not far from the rock there is a monastery, a temple and a meditation center, and in front of the entrance to the temple complex there is a small museu

Kitesurfing in Sri Lanka.
Kitesurfing is still a relatively young sport, but nevertheless, many riders from around the world rush to visit Sri Lanka in pursuit of new impressions from the amazingly beautiful shores covered with coconut palms, the clear ocean and the winds that steadily blow in throughout the season. Kiting in Sri Lanka can be done all year round, on different coasts, depending on the monsoon periods. But perhaps the best and almost all-season place for kiting is Kalpitiya . The wind in Kalpitiya blows from morning to evening from May to October at a speed of 12 - 17 m/sec. The high winter season here is from December to March. November and April are the calmest months here, with minimal wind and precipitation. The water temperature in the ocean is always about 25-26 degrees Celsius.

Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka.
The city of Polonnaruwa is located 214 km northeast of Colombo . The medieval capital of Sri Lanka (1070-1293) and today one of the most important centers of the country's cultural heritage (see map ). For many years, Polonnaruwa was the residence of the rulers of Anuradhapura, where they loved to relax, and also hid during the Tamil invasions, one of which ended with the capture of the northern part of the island. Ironically, the occupiers gave Polonnaruwa the status of the capital. In 1070, the Sri Lankan king Vijayabahu I successfully liberated Polonnaruwa, expelled the invaders from the island and restored Sinhala sovereignty. In 1073, he formally ascended the throne in Anuradhapura, but established Polonnaruwa as the administrative capital of the island. Under the reign of King Parakramabahu the Great (1153-1186), Sri Lanka became known as one of the richest countries in the east. His philosophy was: not a single drop falling from heaven should fall into the sea without benefiting man. The king directed enormous efforts and resources to build a complex irrigation system in the arid region of Polonnaruwa, and the area became favorable for people’s lives. The artificial lake, canals, and pools have been preserved to this day.
The archaeological zone of Polonnaruwa is divided into several distinct parts. These are the palace segment, the Dalada-Maluva segment, the Lantilaka segment, the ruins of the Parakramabahu sea coast, and the northern and southern segments. The main entrance to the historical complex of Polonnaruwa is located next to the palace segment and the Archaeological Museum. There is a parking lot and a market for Sri Lankan handicrafts. From here begins a tour of ancient Polonnaruwa. The entrance ticket costs $25 ( without tax) per adult, $12.5 per child. Tickets can be purchased at the museum; the ticket is valid for 1 day. For organized tourists, the cost of the entrance ticket is already included in the p
