In most of Asia, especially here in South Asia, the societies are heavily driven by men... It's not very common to see a majority of women working on their job, or even walking outside on the streets.

But that's not the situation here, in Sri Lanka. This country is ruled by women -- and it has been remarkable to witness.

Everywhere I look, I am seeing countless women in the workforce -- at both white and blue collar jobs -- contributing to society as they should be.

It's amazing to see how the Sri Lankan government is rural women to get involved with entrepreneurship. There's a popular restaurant chain all over this country called Hela Bojun, where women (and only women) are given a place to cook and sell their tastiest local dishes.

And then you have Sthree, initiated by the Women’s Development Center, which empowers women through the eco friendly production of clothes and hand crafts, among several other innovations.

Women's empowerment is just one of the many reasons to love Sri Lanka, and I can't wait to tell you more tomorrow!

HELLO SRI LANKA!! I am ecstatic to be spending the next 5 days road tripping around this beautiful nation!

I first fell in love with Sri Lanka in 2014, but I didn’t own a video camera back then... so I’m thrilled to be here again and show you the wonderful sites and culture of this small island-nation in the Indian Ocean.

In all honesty, Sri Lanka might just be the “most perfect” country in the world, or at least, out of the 153 countries that I have visited. The food is amazing, the nature is breathtaking, the culture is unique, the people are friendly, the lifestyle is affordable — Sri Lanka is the definition of a travelers' paradise.
