Last day in Test cricket for Mike Brearley. It was also his last as England's captain. He retired with an Ashes win which maintained his unbeaten record at home.

Overall, he captained the English side in 31 games, winning 18 of them and losing only 4. Brearley's win/loss ratio of 4.50 is amongst the best in Test history.

He’s the only captain to led his team to 3 consecutive World Cup finals & to win 2 of them. With his splendid 102 off 85 deliveries during 1975 World Cup final he became the first batsman & captain to score a century in a World Cup final. With a height of 6ft 4in together with a fully grown mustache & pair of spectacles he’s one of the most notable & respected characters in the sport of cricket. Here’s wishing a very happy 78th birthday to legendary West Indies skipper Clive Lloyd.
