The Balangoda Man was a prominent group that inhabited parts of Sri Lanka during the late Quaternary period, with evidence dating back 38,000 years.
Hirikatu Oya, Nanperial
The headwater of Hirikatuoya originates from the Horton Plain mountains, forming a natural pool along the river. Kuragala, Ancient Buddhist Monastery
Kuragala, the oldest archaeological site in the Intermediate Zone of Sri Lanka, features a staircase for easier access. The site also contains a cave with prehistoric archaeological evidence, including stone tools and a human skeleton believed to be over 8,000 years old. Kottimbulwala Raja Maha Viharaya
This temple is also known as Little Adam's peak as there is a carving of the foot of lord Buddha on the top of the little peak. This temple goes back to the king valagamba era and this a cave temple. All the paintings are majestic and statues of lord Buddha are a sight to see.
