Where time moves differently to the rest of the island

Located smack bang in the middle of this tear-drop shaped island, Kandy is a city swathed in early morning mists and surrounded by verdant mountains. It is a far cry from its faster-paced cousin Colombo, but that is its singular charm: Kandy moves to the beat of its own drum, a beat often heard echoing across the valley several times a day. There are many things to do in Kandy beside watching the mesmerizing wildlife around the Kandy Lake; one can dine at the infamous Helga’s Folly, go shopping along the kilometre long stretch of shops on Peradeniya Road, hike into Udawattekele or Hanthana mountains and watch the sunset at Arthur’s Seat.
