TREKKING TRIP TO WELIGALPOTHTHA BUDDHIST MONASTERY
The journey will start at the dawn of the day, the initial 25 kms of our outing travelling in a Tuk-Tuk. There onwards, we will begin to set on foot, a trekking that will last for 2 hours or so, through a jungle path passing a remote village. You will get to experience firsthand the livelihood of the village folks and their simplistic / minimalistic life style and what revolves around them. You will also be treated with sights of local fauna such as porcupines or mongooses which are very likely to come about on our way arriving at the Monastery. Budhist Monks do not cook food but rely on meals that are given to them by the Buddhist followers. In the case of monasteries such as this, placed away from human interactions; devotees take turns in coming and staying for a day or two to cook and offer the 2 meals the monks require for a day. Whilst at the Monastery, you can experience and learn the fundamentals of Buddhist Beliefs as well as the fundamentals of Buddhist Monastic life.

Visit Veddhas in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s Aborigines’, or the Veddha’s meaning “people of the forest” of Sri Lanka has a history much older than prince Vijaya’s landing in 5th century BC and the origins of the Sinhala race. Archaeological evidence suggest that modern Veddha’s Neolithic ancestors inhabited this island as far back as 10,000 BC with. Once roaming the Great Plains’ of the north central region to the central mountains, today the remaining Veddha population are confined to Dambana which is close to Maduru oya sanctuary.
They are essentially hunter gatherer forest dwellers without much change in their life style from Stone Age to modern times. The language used by them is an ancient dialect of Sinhala, staple diet being venison, Veddha’s are allowed to hunt legally to sustain themselves within certain areas, are also expert fisherman. Veddha’s also collect bee’s honey and exchange it with the locals for axe blades and cloth.
Today, the Veddha’s are more modernised as far as at least the cloths are concerned and perfect way to observe Veddha is to organise a camp close to or within a reservation and Veddha’s will be more than glad to show you their ways of life, with an axe hanging from their shoulders and a bow slung behind them, gives you the impression nothing much has changed since the dawn of time for these proud warriors of the forest.

TREKKING DESTINATIONS - ADAM'S PEAK
The Sacred character of this mountain-peak of 7,360ft and its legends has brought many a visitor from many lands like Alexander the Great, Marco Polo, Ibn Battua, on pilgrimage here. The trails and traditions along these routes are as old as time itself, with legends so hoary that history has no knowledge of them. History of Adam's peak runs back to 2100 years to the reign of King Valagambahu (104 – 76 BC) who made the discovery of the sacred foot print during his exile in the mountain wilderness.
The primeval forest which surrounds the peak is known as the peak wilderness, the grandeur of its ruggedness and its rushing waters falling from dizzying heights to form stunning waterfalls. Off season climbing of Adam's Peak is more rewarding as you will not have any human contact but is considered extremely hazardous during the monsoon season from May to August. December to May is considered the season of Adam's Peak.

HORTON PLAIN NATIONAL PARK SRI LANKA
A bank of orange-yellow clouds in the East shooting beams of pale primrose light marks the beginning of another glorious day at Horton plains, where a little pond marks the entrance to the park, start early as possible and dress to avoid the morning chill, but you’ll need to cover your head by afternoon from the burning blue skies. An arduous track often covered in mist and drenched in dew, the places to see are bakers’ falls, the chimney pool done by a long forgotten colonial planter and the mini world’s end and world’s end. During the day time both mini and main World's Ends are covered with mist and clouds, however during the month of February, it’s clear and offer a breath taking view across the southern parts of Sri Lanka, one must have the patience to wait at these points for clouds to clear to get a glimpse of a steep drop and a tea estate beneath World's End. To get to the Baker's fall’s, you have to deviate from the main trail on a difficult downward path.
The plains, which is the identical to a savannah, is frequented by Elk, Deer, Giant Squirrel, Wild Boar, Wild Hare , Porcupine, and a variety of Migratory birds unique to this region. According to a recent count there are 16 Leopards in Horton Plains. If you are very lucky you may get a glimpse of a Leopard during your stay in the Horton Plains. Once this pampas like grassland was a heaven to many Elephants but has been annihilated by the colonial invaders and some accounts say (Thomas Far) that they were shot at a rate of 10 per day and today the elephant is no longer present at Horton plains.
