Celebrating World Environment Day - 2023

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2023, with great glory through a series of programs. The theme of this year's World Environment Day was "Beat Plastic Pollution". There was a tree planting program and an awareness program with the goal of disseminating information about the severity of global plastic crises and their impact on people and the environment. Children of the children's societies affiliated with the Rambukkana Regional Secretariat participated in the event, and prizes and certificates were given to the children who participated in this program.

Additionally, the task of categorizing trash bins was done with the intention of effectively managing the accumulated waste on the institution's premises.

The government has set up new set of regulations regarding quarantining, for people coming to Sri Lanka.
According to this, those who have received both doses of the vaccine 14 days prior to the day of travelling will be eligible to pass through with only a negative PCR Test without quarantining. Those who wish to stay at paid quarantine centers are expected spend 7 days of quarantining at the hotel and rest of the 7 days of quarantining at home. Those who wish to quarantine at government centers are supposed to stay at government quarantine for 10 days and 4 days of quarantining at home.
