Come and Explore Sinharaja Rain forest with Local Village Lifestyle
I am K.D. Piyasena and I am a farmer. I live in village called Pitakele with my family, one of border village within buffer zone of Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Popular waterfall in Sinharaja called ‘Dhuwili Ella’ is next to my home. My family is living here for the generations and Sinharaja forest is everything to us. While I am doing tea planting and making traditional jaggery and treacle from the sap of fishtail palm (Caryota urense) locally know as Kithul tree, I am offering ‘Home Stay’ facility for the people (local and foreign) who coming to explore Sinharaja and its Biodiversity.
My home stay facility is consist of one double room with attached bathroom and one double room with seperate bathroom. All around my home has open veranda with easy chair to enjoy surrounding and view towards rainforest. There is well maintained road to reach my home and parking facility is available. I am offering wide variety of local food for all three meals and most of the vegetables are freshly sourced from village and surroundings.
Biodiversity in bufferzone forest area next to my home is very good and you can see most of the wildlife what you can see in Sinharaja including many endemic and rare bird species. Tracking and walking activities can be arrange in the village. Natural bathing in Dhuwili Ella waterfall next to my home.
Experienced guide for Sinharaja walk, guest pickup from Kalawana, Weddagala or Kudawa can be arrange.
