In April, the Managing Director of our principal partner in Germany - World Insight visited Sri Lanka with his photo-crew to document the most beautiful spots of Sri Lanka. Our country manager - Dilan and one of the top Guides - Chinthaka were on tour with World Insight.

Later this year, Serendib Expeditions will be on a Roadshow in Germany with World Insight to promote Sri Lanka and its less-known hidden attractions and the adventures off-the-beaten track in 16 major cities in Germany. We hope this promotion will entice more visitors from Germany to consider traveling to Sri Lanka in the next season.

Geschäftsführer Otfried Schöttle war auf Dienstreise in Sri Lanka und erlebte dort die kulturellen Schätze, die atemberaubende Natur und die gastfreundlichen Menschen der Insel.

Sri Lanka macht es vor!

Umstellung der Tuk-Tuks auf Elektroantrieb geplant

Nachhaltige Transportlösung auf Sri Lanka

Auf Sri Lanka gibt es rund 1,2 Millionen Tuk-Tuks, die das Straßenbild des Inselstaates prägen. Nun hat sich das Land dafür entschieden, in den kommenden Jahren etwa die Hälfte dieser dreirädrigen Fahrzeuge auf Elektroantrieb umzustellen. Dieses ambitionierte Vorhaben ist eine Kooperation von zwei Ministerien sowie den Vereinten Nationen.

Der Wechsel ist nicht nur aus Umweltgesichtspunkten wichtig. Die elektrischen Dreiräder sollen den wirtschaftlichen Erholungsprozess des Landes ankurbeln. Das Pilotprojekt ist ein Teil des UNDP-Portfolios für grüne Entwicklung, das nachhaltige Transportlösungen unterstützt und fördert.
