“From even just thinking about booking this place right through to getting to the airport on the way home this trip was perfect. James is certainly a 'superhost', every question was answered quickly and everything we needed was booked for us like airport transfers and excursions - even before we made the booking James was so helpful with all our questions. Handugoda Lodge is a little peace of heaven, surrounded by palm trees, monkeys , chipmunks and peacocks!! We arrived in the evening, Kumudu the housekeeper had the outside lights on and incense burning - it genuinely took our breath away. We sat down to a lovely Sri Lankan curry cooked by Kumudu - after a long journey it was perfect. We stayed for 2 weeks and we didn't want to come home, it is definitely a place to call your home for a longer period of time rather than just a few days. James was on hand to help us with anything we needed, Kumudu took care of the every day (we didn't go to a supermarket once!!) and Asoka the tuk-tuk driver drove us everywhere local and was always available. We were made to feel so at home, we will definitely be back!! Thank you for a very special and memorable honeymoon Handugoda! Charlotte & Richard”

Our stay at Handugoda lodge was beyond my expectations. Our whole family had a great time. The boys had a really good time in the pool. There were lots of peacocks and birds coming to the house in the mornings and evenings. This place really a hidden treasure in the middle of the paddy fields. The house itself was beautiful, loved the wood and the cement finishes, traditional yet modern and very homely. Kumudu went out of her way to help us. Will definitely be coming back.
