The Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about advancing your skills. You’ll practice navigation and buoyancy, try deep diving, and make three specialty dives of your choosing (it’s like a specialty sampler platter). For every specialty dive you complete, you can earn credit toward PADI® specialty certifications. And best of all, you can complete the course in just three days.

PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. Throughout the course, you’ll be able to complete four dives, allowing you to get a taste of what it’s like to dive in the ocean. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, and you’ll be able to dive anywhere in the world.

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme is a short try-diving experience for adults and children aged 10 years and older. This introduces you to the basics of diving. The ‘DSD’ is usually a one-day or half-day activity, so it’s a great option if you’ve been thinking about trying SCUBA for a while but don’t have much time while you’re on holiday. It’s also perfect for building up confidence in the water before jumping straight into a full course.

Wallet wreck

This shipwreck lying at 40m in the waters of Colombo looks like a huge wallet full of marine life. The hull of the ship is filled with a lot of coral and many places to explore. You will need PADI Advance Open Water license or equivalent to dive at this wreck.

Cargo wreck Colombo (Pecheur Breton)

Sunk in 1994, this massive 90m long ship which lies at 33m has become home to Groupers, Eagle Rays, Fusiliers, Snappers, Lionfish, Scorpionfish and Batfish. You will require PADI Advance Open Water certification or equivalent to dive at this wreck.

Sitting between two worlds since 2012, Thermopylae Sierra is a shipwreck off the coast of Mount Lavinia with a max depth of 23m ideal for PADI Open Water/Advance Divers.
