Hello My name is Lahiru, Owner of The Surfer Sri Lanka. This is My story
Firstly I was introduced to Surfing culture by one of my Good friend now who I got to know while I was working in one of leading private sector bank in Weligama
After 3 years I was transferred to head office in Colombo where I didn't have opportunity to go surfing,
I was desperate working in the bank doing the same routing every single day without any chance to go Surfing or enjoy things I liked.
I had to make one of most difficult decisions in my life which my friends and family didn't approve.
I decided to resign from a stable well paid job putting on the line everything I had to start something new on my own. I started very small giving for rent a single room in my family house on airbnb. the guests who came loved the local atmosphere and the experience.
after a while I started giving surf lessons for my guests, there re more and more guests started sending requests to stay with me and learn surfing ,
Since I dint have enough space accommodate all the requests I rented out few guest houses around Weligama.
After being a while in the Tourism business I managed to buy a perfect piece of land just next to the beach and decided to build my own surf camp from the scratch.
I designed it on my own ,managed to build eight rooms at the first stage borrowing money from my family and bank I used to work for.
After one season, I saw the potential of growing bigger so I went my way adding three more floors and a swimming pool to the camp.
Thank you God, Now here I am with The Surfer Surf Camp winning many awards from TripAdvisor & other travel companies
