යම් තැනක සැඟවිලා, පව්වල විපාකයෙන් ගැලවෙන්න පුළුවන් නම්, එබඳු තැනක් අහසෙත් නෑ. මුහුද මැදත් නෑ. කන්දක් අස්සෙ ගුහාවක හැංගුණත් නෑ. එබඳු තැනක් ලෝකයේ කොහේවත් නෑ.

If it is possible to hide somewhere and escape the consequences of sins, there is no such place in heaven. Not even in the middle of the sea. Not hiding in a cave under a mountain. There is no such place anywhere in the world.

අඥාන පුද්ගලයෙක් තමන්ගෙ මුළු ජීවිත කාලය පුරාවටම නුවණැති මුනිවරයෙක්ව ඇසුරු කළත්, ඔහු නම් ධර්මය අවබෝධ කරන්නේ නෑ. හොද්දක රසය නොතේරෙන හැන්දක් වගේ.

Even if an ignorant person associates with a wise sage throughout his life, he will not understand the Dhamma. Like a spoon that doesn't understand the taste of broth.

බුද්ධිමත් පුද්ගලයා සුළු මොහොතකට හරි, නුවණැති මුනිවරයෙක්ව ඇසුරු කළොත්, ඔහු ඉතා ඉක්මනින් ධර්මය අවබෝධ කරගන්නවා. හොද්දක රසය වහාම දැනගන්න දිවක් වගේ.

If the intelligent person associates with a wise sage for a few moments, he will quickly understand the Dhamma. Like a tongue that immediately knows the taste of a broth.
