From August 5-11, the ConTempo festival returns to Kaunas and the Kaunas district for the sixth time, bringing together the most prominent Lithuanian and international performing arts artists.
The 7-day programme includes more than 40 dance, circus, and theatre performances, over 30 hours of stage action, and many free events. This year, the festival welcomes attendees with the slogan "The World Stage Up Close," and the organisers promise to blur the boundaries between the stage and the audience.
Kaunas is full of activities, as we announced on Monday, June 3, at the Lithuanian Zoological Garden during the presentation of the summer season news in Kaunas.
From the sounds of musical instruments to learning about animals, the upcoming opening of Science Island in the autumn, and the charming Kaunas alphabet, there are countless delightful experiences to discover. Celebrating its 25th birthday, the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) invites you to feel like a child and explore Kaunas through fresh eyes.

Celebrating its centenary in 2024, the Lithuanian Song Celebration is a special tradition protected by UNESCO!
To mark this event, which originated in Kaunas and is celebrating its jubilee, we have issued a very limited edition badge of only 300 pieces 🎶. After all, the Day of Songs will take place in Kaunas exactly one month from now!

MODERNIST KAUNAS | GOOGLE ARTS & CULTURE
After Kaunas' bid for modernist architecture, titled 'Modernist Kaunas: the Architecture of Optimism, 1919-1939,' was approved at the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee in Saudi Arabia last September, this designation marks the fifth of our country's treasures to be awarded UNESCO status.
The inter-war buildings of Kaunas and their diversity, particularly in Žaliakalnis and Naujamiestis, have been recognized as significant for the whole of humanity, both for present and future generations.
This rich heritage has been captured and preserved on the Google Arts & Culture platform, making it accessible to everyone.

On this occasion, we invite you to take a look at the spectacular 6-meter-diameter Earth installation, Gaia, currently on display at Kauno Akropolis. This exhibition is organized by Salto Agency and Kaunas Akropolis.
Created by the world-renowned artist Luke Jerram, this work not only allows us to admire the planet we live on but also encourages us to reflect on preserving it.
The installation will be available for viewing until April 17th.

A unique circular sculpture for the Lithuanian letter #Ė, created by Tadas Vosylius, was unveiled in Kaunas, Student Square, over the weekend.✨
The Lithuanian alphabet has 32 letters, but only ė is so special. It was first used in the first Lithuanian grammar compiled by Daniel Klein in 1653. It is the only Lithuanian letter that has no equivalent in any other language in the world. Technology in written language often seems to erase the dot of the Ė in the fast pace of time, but we hear it in speech. We invite you to see it!

Electronic music rhythms, a crowd of many thousands, and an industrial space that becomes the epicenter of a huge party - that's the shortest way to describe the country's longest-running rave tradition - the 'Prisukamas Abrikosas'. On April 12th, planets, plates, and the hands of the clock will be spinning again - the cult event is coming back to Kaunas. This time in the legendary Dzerzhinsky Machine Tool Factory building, which will soon change its purpose after the party. Therefore, 'Prisukamas Abrikosas' is the only opportunity to enjoy the space full of stories and the cultural 'dessert' hidden there - unique ceramic murals. Don't miss it!
