Šiauliai District Tourism and Business Information Center received a notification that the Hill of Crosses was recognized as one of the 100 most sacred places according to Patheo's initiative "Sacred Spaces: 100 Most Holy Places on Earth" 🙏 This multi-modal project aims to promote various sacred sites and promote a deeper understanding of religious sites among people of all backgrounds, religions and cultures 🫶

The inclusion of the Hill of Crosses in this prestigious list is a testament to its great significance and historical importance. Thousands of sites were considered and only 100 were chosen after a vote by religious scholars and writers 🧑‍🏫

The Hill of Crosses is one of the most famous sights in Lithuania, which became famous throughout the Christian world in 1993. Pope John Paul II visited here ✝️

For the 23rd time, the celebration of the US Independence Day is organized in Lithuania - the largest American event in our country, bringing together business and political elites, diplomats, as well as American partners and friends 🤝

The American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania (AmCham), the organizers of the event, invite everyone to celebrate freedom and unity while also commemorating the upcoming NATO Summit, which is of particular importance to Lithuania The guests of the event can expect a special program, American BBQ, engaging entertainment for the whole family, and special attention will be given to our four-legged friends, for whom the event partners have prepared many surprises 🍗🐾👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

These celebrations usually takes place around June 23rd, coinciding with the summer solstice. It is a time when the days are the longest, and nature is at its peak of vitality 🌻🌳🌿 The celebrations revolve around honoring the sun, nature, fertility, and the abundance of the harvest season. These events are marked by various customs, rituals, music, dancing, bonfires, and feasting 🌾🎶🧙‍♀️🔥🌙

In Lithuania, Jonines is a national holiday and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. People gather in the countryside, near lakes, rivers, or the seaside, where they build large bonfires 🔥🔥🔥 These bonfires are believed to chase away evil spirits and bring good fortune 🤞 Traditional songs and dances, known as sutartinės, are performed, and wreaths made of flowers and herbs are worn on the head, symbolizing beauty and good luck 🌿🌾

Starting from June 16, 2023, the ambitious 7th Riga International Textile and Fibre Art Triennial will be held under the theme QUO VADIS? 🖼

The 7th Riga International Textile and Fibre Art Triennial is a significant international cultural occasion that brings together participants not only from Latvia and various European countries but also from Canada, the USA, Japan, Brazil, Costa Rica, South Africa, Taiwan, and other places 🌍 The triennial features 79 artists from 30 countries who were chosen by an international jury from a pool of 237 submissions 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

In response to the triennial's motto, QUO VADIS? (Where Are We Going?), the artists, through their works, engage in dialogues about the progression of art and the textile and fibre art field in today's world, as well as global geopolitical and social issues ☝️ They engage in self-reflection within the context of their time and art form. The artists shed light on current topics such as the devastating war in Ukraine, the far-reaching impacts of the global pandemic, the consequences of climate change on our planet, and other sensitive and poignant social concerns 👥

The primary exhibition of this significant artistic event will be showcased in two locations: the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (Skārņu iela 10) and the Art Museum RIGA BOURSE (Doma laukums 6), until September 17 📌
