I've learned about the Rift Valley and what might happen to East Africa as a result, when I was in 7th grade. I thought even my kid's generation won't be seeing this happening let alone me. Nevertheless it's becoming a reality today.

A large crack, stretching several kilometres, made a sudden appearance recently in southwestern Kenya. It could be evidence that East Africa is splitting in two.
