The instrument of the outstanding Lithuanian flutist Giedrius Gelgotas performs the voice of heart in this album. And it's so true! Warm, vibrating, sometimes full of hope and confidence.
There is a lot of space in his play - it is perhaps from Giedra's soul, whose element is the sea. When the sea bug calls, he lays down the flute, raises the sails, and goes sailing. But when returning, the flute shines in new shades, nuances, and subtle transitions.
Giedrius reads a lot. Books line upon, above, behind, and under the shelves in his home. Maybe that is why his musical language is so imaginative, and the interplay dialogues are intense, fulfilling, exciting. He has something to say, and he knows how to say it with a sense of mature professionalism.
Giedriu's play creates strong and well-marked associations. It is a miracle how the sound images conjured with his lightness and naturalness become a bright experience of inner vision.
Giedrius is a great cook and prepares with southern enthusiasm! Surprisingly, he is also a practical person, able to express his creativity in very everyday things. And his family, motorcycle and speed, home repairs, cars, antique furniture. And friends. He who has won the friendship of Giedrius is lucky.
