The instrument of the outstanding Lithuanian flutist Giedrius Gelgotas performs the voice of heart in this album. And it's so true! Warm, vibrating, sometimes full of hope and confidence.
There is a lot of space in his play - it is perhaps from Giedra's soul, whose element is the sea. When the sea bug calls, he lays down the flute, raises the sails, and goes sailing. But when returning, the flute shines in new shades, nuances, and subtle transitions.
Giedrius reads a lot. Books line upon, above, behind, and under the shelves in his home. Maybe that is why his musical language is so imaginative, and the interplay dialogues are intense, fulfilling, exciting. He has something to say, and he knows how to say it with a sense of mature professionalism.
Giedriu's play creates strong and well-marked associations. It is a miracle how the sound images conjured with his lightness and naturalness become a bright experience of inner vision.
Giedrius is a great cook and prepares with southern enthusiasm! Surprisingly, he is also a practical person, able to express his creativity in very everyday things. And his family, motorcycle and speed, home repairs, cars, antique furniture. And friends. He who has won the friendship of Giedrius is lucky.

Education
Lithuanian flutist Giedrius Gelgotas graduated from M. K. Čiurlions Art Gymnasium. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. He then studied with the brightest contemporary flute specialists at the Royal Academy of Music and the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.
He has traveled a lot, played a lot: participated in festivals and won international competitions, performed in Europe, the USA, Japan. He has been the main flutist at the Cairo Opera and Ballet Theater, the National Orchestra of Catalonia, and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the main flutist in the Lithuanian National Opera Orchestra. https://www.mhflj.cz/philharmonic-winds-lt/
In 2010, Giedrjus received his doctorate from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and is now a star in the constellation of great masters.
Students go to him on their study pilgrimages: Giedrjus leads masterclasses, is a member of the jury of international competitions, and for those who are especially lucky - a lecturer of flute playing at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Music.

Since 2015, he has used his professional experience in the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, where he is the concertmaster of the flute group.
Giedrjus is not only a bright performer but also a strong leader. He founded and directed the well-known Lithuanian Flute Quartet and St. Christopher's Vilnius Wind Quintet far beyond the borders of Lithuania.
Giedrius often performs as a soloist and has premiered many works by Lithuanian composers for flute dedicated to him. http://en.flute.lt/gg
Giedrius Gelgotas is awarded from the Republic of Lithuania and the city of Vilnius.

Today a few words about the same prayer "Ave Maria."
Its origins can be traced back to the 4th century after Christ; in any case, the first written testimony dates back to this time - the papyrus found in Egypt with the text of Ave Maria *. True, not everything, but only the first part of the prayer.
This first part, which honors the Mother of God, consists of two quotations from the Gospel: the greeting of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary: "Hail, full of mercy, the Lord be with you!"
(Luke 1:28.).
For a long time, prayer consisted only of these two verses. Only in the XV century, the name of JESUS and the closing AMEN was added.
When and how the second part "Holy Mary, Mother of God ..." is added is difficult to trace. Since the 12th century, thanks to begging monks and wandering preachers, prayer Ave Mary spread very rapidly and in different versions.
1568 was confirmed the final - current - formulation of prayer in the Roman Breviary published by St. Pius, which was then also included in the text of the Liturgy of the Hours.

* It was discovered in 1917 by the English scientist James Rendel Harris (1852-1941) and is now housed in the John Rylands University Library in Manchester).

❤❤❤ Cellist ELENA DAUNYTE - so energetic and passionate! Both in life and music, she is open, colorful, and full of zest. So diverse in her expressions: she engages in all sorts of musical projects, writes poetry, composes music, sings, does sports, and bakes bread. Her surname Daunyte in her ancestor's dialect means the tip of a loaf of bread.

Elena's cello in this album is like a reliable and sincere soul mate - as Virgil in Dante's Divine Comedy. Its intense sound, gushing from the depths of the soul, leads through the aching circles of the Purgatory in ever-increasing light until it gently leads to the very enlightenment - the gates of Paradise. And the soul is not alone in its journey of prayer - the cello's timbre merges with her feelings and makes Elena so present in her playing. At times it feels like I have known her for a long time.
And how that musical instrument gives in to her- it obeys its entire five-octave range! The Cello Mistress has a shelf full of Grand Prix and Virtuoso awards.

Improvisation, experimentation, professionalism, creative freedom, and versatility - this is about her, Lithuanian cello star Elena Daunyti. She graduated from the M. K. Čiurlion Art School, studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, then at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater in Vilnius. She has taken countless masterclasses with the best cello masters. https://www.homecomingfest.com/elena-daunyte-cello/
Elena has won many international competitions and received the highest scores for her talent, virtuosity, and artistic maturity. But her path in music leads further - towards perfection, mastery, precision. Elena admits that perfection is an unattainable goal, and everything is perfect, as far as we can feel and grasp it at the moment.

Elena has received recognition from two Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania - V. Adamkus and D. Grybauskaitė - for the high musical achievements and brilliant representation of Lithuania in the world.

Ellen's repertoire includes both classical and contemporary music. She has performed as a solo artist with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Royal Northern College of Music.
Although she prefers solo activities, she also enjoys playing in an ensemble or joining an orchestra.

Elena has three sisters - professional musicians - and they perform together in the unique family ensemble "Regnum Musicale". Audiences in countless competitions and concert halls across the world have appreciated by awards and applause the angelic performance of the sisters, the energy of youth, the unanimous flight of the senses. https://www.regnummusicale.com/about/
Since 2016, the musician has been studying vocal art and has repeatedly proven herself as a singer on stage.

Elena gets up with the sun and does sports in the morning to keep the fire going and fill herself with creative enthusiasm.
She can't stand still in life and is always looking for new challenges. Her dreams and energy are inexhaustible, so who knows how else Elena will surprise us.
Oh, and she is also participating in the Vilnius Marathon!
