How to turn around a traditional Moroccan mountain lodge so that it's fit for a VIP group in 48 hours?? This is just one of the challenges thrown out to Chelsea Wick, Epic's resident interiors and events specialist. "It was all hand's on deck", say's Chelsea, "We had to ship not only textiles but beds too, luckily the lodge had many pleasant features to work with, but we were up against it! Ultimately we created a rustic rock-climbers sanctuary just in time for the client's arrival". Read more about Chelsea and this particular adventure in the Epic Journal on our Website

With golden beaches, sandy islands, and cutting cliffs, the Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal is the countries best-known beach hotspot. Whilst its centre is packed with holiday villas and resorts, the edges on the west and east coast offer much more history and rustic charm.

The Algarve is located within the Ria Formosa, a natural ecosystem of lagoons and marshlands that stretch for 60 km along the coastline making it a prime destination for adventure activities possible to explore by boat, hiking or bike.

_Visit Chefchaouen

To our knowledge, there isn’t really anywhere else in the world like Chefchaouen, which explains its Instagram fame in recent years.

It’s surely the prettiest of Morocco’s towns and its appeal lies in its colour. Its pale blue-washed dwellings give it a surreal calm and its mountainside location and quaint winding streets give it the feel of a Moroccan take on a Spanish Pueblo Blanco.

Go on a Foodie tour in Porto_

Porto is the country’s foodie capital, and our affection really peaks when we think of the delicious hidden treasures found in traditional Porto pubs- usually called ‘tascas’ where friends all gather for a ‘petisco.’

Discover traditional ‘tascas’ with their unique flavours- that you will taste, discover their histories and codes that your local guide will explain how they link to the histories of Porto and to its inhabitants, what make the local delicacies so unique.

Referred to as Portugal’s second capital, Porto is the perfect mix of classic and edgy with small boutiques and rustic eateries hidden inside the hilly backstreets of Ribeira and Cedofeita.

The centre is full of ostentatious buildings decorated with azulejos tiles whilst down on its river bank the docks are bustling with dimly lit, enticing port cellars.

Not just renowned for its history, Porto is host to a variety of esoteric modern architecture, with the most notable being the Casa da Musica or Leça da Palmeira along the coast of Matosinhos.

_Visit Ait-Ben-Haddou

Ait-Ben-Haddou is a Ksour, which is a fortified village made up of Kasbahs and other dwellings. It sits in the lower Ounila Valley and is one of the must-see sights of the region. Funding from UNESCO and the film industry has restored the village and it can easily be visited by way of a network of stone pathways in the interior of the site. There are a number of small, characteristic, guest houses in the area but most often our suggestion is to visit the site en route between Marrakech and the desert.

The Ouarzazate region is the gateway to the Moroccan south, and in many ways offers the country’s most iconic scenery. It’s a land of big skies, wide open desert vistas, palm oases and crumbling rammed-earth ruins that have stood for centuries.

The exotically-named Ouarzazate has gained international notoriety as a Hollywood film location and is a crossroads to the gorges on the southern flank of the High Atlas, the Draa Valley and ultimately the Sahara Desert.

_Want to explore the beautiful Ouarzazate region in Morocco? Get in touch with our team and we'll design a bespoke travel itinerary for you.

Essaouira is Morocco’s weatherbeaten and whitewashed coastal gem on the wild shores of the Atlantic. Here the paint peels off the walls and you have the feeling of being on a set of an exotic film. It’s a bohemian place that offers a pleasant contrast and change of pace from Marrakech, borne out in its cool arts scene and good places to shop, stay overnight and eat out. 💙
