The coastal town of Essaouria, just under a 3 hr drive from Marrakech.

We often stay here for either one or two nights as Essaouria is included in some of our Multi Day Tour itineraries or sometimes we visit just on a Day Trip from Marrakech.

It is a place to include on any visit to Marrakech. The temperatures are more forgiving, fresh seafood is in abundance, it's more laid back than Marrakech, it's shabby chic, full of artisans, musicians, galleries, it was were Orson Wells filmed scenes for 'Othello' and in more recent times, scenes for 'Game of Thrones'.

Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger used to spend time here, the white washed ancient Medina is a delight to wander through and it's sweeping curved beach and clean sparking blue sea offers you respite from the searing heat of summer and an optional came and horse rides too.

Please be mindful when you are pushing constantly for a better deal in Morocco. Of course don't be scammed and don't feel guilt ridden but so what if you paid a few dirhams here and there over the odds.

As we repeat on a regular basis don't ask am I being 'robbed' ask instead are you as an affluent visitor 'robbing' them.

The poverty in Morocco and the ever increasing poverty gap in Morocco has people trying to survive without basic living standards or food.

Morocco, despite the glamour and affluence you will experience in the cities, has not magically recovered from the living hell people endured while the country was closed to the world for almost 2 years.

Amal here created by an amazing American woman living in Morocco is one of the best grass root proactive charities in Marrakech.

You might wish to support their work by visiting their restaurant or take a cooking class with them. Amal supports disadvantaged women by training and supporting them on their journey into the work place .

Morocco is beautiful and so are the majority of Moroccans. It is a country of saturated colour and bright light but with many living in shadow.

Guests continue to arrive at our new venture and newly restored family palmerie. It is a delight for us to share this space with guests.

Table ware has still to be refined to include more locally made pieces. Like any new business we have made a start with what we have. The oasis offerings will evolve and develop over this year and beyond.

Private 4x4 Tours Morocco This photograph was taken in Morocco in the 1950s, how nostalgic you might think however please believe us when we say it is striking because the very same photograph could have been taken today ! In many rural areas throughout Morocco, in particular the Atlas mountain regions and in the Sahara this level of financial and social poverty remains in pockets ! Morocco is funding many projects to appeal to and cater for the international visitor, while so many Moroccans in need are ignored and live as they would have a century ago never mind 50yrs ! The rural mountain villages that take your breath away because of their other worldliness and rustic beauty are without basic infrastructure, sanitation, education, health care, food, clothing, heating facilities for the winter months. In addition in our own Saharan region there is a shortage of running water throughout the year which in itself makes life difficult for households. You name it, many do not have it ! That said there is no need to travel with a guilt complex in Morocco, Moroccans are a proud, warm hearted and welcoming people in general and would not wish for you to feel uncomfortable We just ask you be mindful and to give thanks as you journey through this beautiful land and not barter the life out of any trader you meet on the road !

The Mor'hara Touring Year The Summer 'Mor'hara Souk' is soon to be on the road again ! First stop Portugal next stop France Yes, we are primarily a Moroccan tour company but the Summer Season for us is actually our low season because of the high temperatures in Morocco during July and August. We choose, as a responsible and professional company, not to take clients into the Desert at Chigaga where current temperatures are 5O degrees plus. It's not safe and it's not pleasant for guides or clients. Members of our family team remain in Morocco to continue touring with clients to the coast and host our varied Day tours from Marrakech However Hassan for a number of years now prefers to be in Europe where he travels with the Mor'hara pop up souk while the mercury remains unbearably high in Morocco. He has earned his travelling stripes having been involved with the family business since a child, to now choose not to drive 12 months of the year. Hassan returns to Morocco in mid September to meet with clients who are specifically travelling with him and thereafter into our high season which consist of the Autumn, Winter and Spring months

We will still be working throughout the month but less so. 'Ramadan Kareem' is a greeting which translates as 'Generous Ramadan' relating to acts of generosity towards others.
