While our Photography Tour which ran earlier this year was 'Colours of Morocco', sometimes a black & white image is exceptionally effective! This is 'Tamdaght' kasbah by tutor Michael Breitung Photography .
Our group participants spent the night near the kasbah and had plenty of time to scope out viewpoints before the fading light.

The unparalleled view from the summit of the Erg Chigaga. We encourage all of our guests to enjoy the sundown from here.
This epic shot was captured by Michael Breitung Photography during our February Photo Tour, 'Colours of Morocco', which included 3 nights under canvas in the Sahara.
Contact us to be added to the mailing list for the next Photo Tour.

After a 15 minute climb in the shade of the largest dune of the Erg Chigaga, this is the first view you get when reaching the summit.

Just WOW.

'Timeless' by Michael Breitung Photography captured on the final night in the Sahara Desert during our recent Photo Tour.
Not many people would think of mountains in the desert, but this location was a highlight during the tour as we set up a wild campsite a short walk away. The mountains are known locally as 'Madouar' and are a breathtaking sight, day or night.
Thank you Michael.

One of the highlights of the photo tour I led for Wild Morocco back in February was wild camping near these spectacular mountains. After a great dinner under the stars it was time to also photograph them.

This photo is a time blending. I first photographed the landscape under the glow of the setting sun. Then I left the tripod in place and returned a few hours later to capture the star trails you see here.

Hope you like it!

Our recent Photo Tour, 'Colours of Morocco', encompassed medinas, mountains, Coast and the Sahara.
Here tutor Michael Breitung Michael Breitung Photography captured the Essaouira ramparts at high tide. Stunning.

When I first visited Essaouira back in 2019 the tides were low around sunset. Back then I couldn't take the photos I had in mind.

For the photo tour in February I left nothing to chance. I planned for a new moon in the desert to photograph the night sky and for high tide at the coast to photograph some wave action in Essaouira.

This may well be one of my favourite shots of the tour.
We are already planning the 2021 trip!

Another photo from the desert. I really miss this place.

On our second evening we had a lot of fun photographing Mohamed and his dromedaries in the dunes. The wind blowing the sand over the crests of the dunes added a lot to the atmosphere.

Thanks to Wild Morocco for the organization of the tour! Can't wait to do it again next year ;-)

Thanks to Michael Breitung Photography for leading our recent Photo Tour, across 9 days. Michael will be sharing some of his images through his page and website (www.mibreit-photo.com). We'll also be sharing a few more over time here and on Instagram.
Thanks also goes out to our team behind the scenes for the Tour logistics (Yahya, Salah, Hocin, Mohamed, Iliyas, Habib).

In February I led my first Photo Tour for Wild Morocco. One of the highlights of that tour was returning to the Erg Chigaga. We did a lot of exploring, climbing many of the dunes around camp.

One of the views we found was this here, looking north towards the edge of the desert. I liked all the different layers in this one, starting with the dunes, then some trees, green plains, dunes and finally the mountains.

We ran our first photo tour last month with Michael Breitung Photography . The tour is 'Colours of Morocco' and we aim to share many more images over the coming weeks.
Perhaps this image of the Koutoubia minaret is fitting. A beacon of light.
We do hope to offer another photo tour with Michael in future.
Please keep in touch and watch this space.

Back in February I led my first Photo Tour for Wild Morocco. With a small group of three participants, a driver and me we ventured into the solitude of the desert to photograph the beautiful sea of sand and the night sky (Photos will come soon). But not before getting a taste of the lively Medina of Marrakech. To get a good glimpse of the bustle we went to one of the surrounding rooftop bars for sunset, which is where I captured this photo.

It feels like forever, much has changed since then. But at some point life will return to normal again. Stay positive!

PS: I also have a mailing list here: https://www.mibreit-photo.com/mailing-list.php

In case I record new Start2Finish tutorials or there are new photo tours next year, this is the first place you'll hear from it.

Looking forward to showing you more images from tutor Michael Breitung Photography during our recent 9 day Photo Tour.

I have just returned from Morocco where I led my first Photo Tour for Wild Morocco . I had again a great time in Morocco and it was certainly not my last visit. A big thanks also to the participants. You were great and I can't wait to see your photos.

Here's the first photo I want to show you. Not a landscape photo but a portrait of Mohamed and his Dromedary. Photographing him and his Dromedaries in the dunes was one of my highlights.

Hope you like it too.

Next February you can join me and Wild Morocco for an awesome 9 day trip through Morocco's South. Photos like this here will be on our bucket list. Traveling in winter will give us a high chance of clear night skies and with the new moon the conditions will be perfect to photograph the Milky Way.

And even if you are not so interested in Night Photography, there will certainly be plenty of sunsets and sunrises to capture.

Sahara Layers - Another photo showing the endless layers of the Erg Chigaga in Morocco. Erg means "sand sea" for a reason.

Red Sahara - There is this moment in the desert, just seconds before the sun dips beneath the horizon, which is when the dunes glow in beautiful red colors. I experienced this on our first evening in the desert during our tour with Wild Morocco .

Want to marvel at the Milky Way? There is no light pollution at the Erg Chigaga dunes, the nearest village 60km away. Michael Breitung Photography captured the night sky last month.

Desert Nights - One of my favorite moments of my desert tour with Wild Morocco was at the morning of my birthday. I got up very early and hiked to one of the dunes near our camp (Camp Al Koutban). There I sat watching the Milky Way slowly make its way across the horizon. You don't see such clear starry skies very often and the desert might be one of the best places to do so.

About the processing of this image: While such Milky Way photos are never fully realistic, I still tried to keep close to the mood of the night as good as possible. It took me a long time to fine-tune it and I also had to apply a quite different processing workflow to my normal photo editing.

That's why I think this is a good opportunity to record a new Start2Finish post processing tutorial for this photo. Once it's finished I'll announce it here, on my youtube channel and through my mailing list (https://www.mibreit-photo.com/mailing-list.php) . There might even be some early bird discount codes then ;-)

An instalment from Michael Breitung Photography at UNESCO site Ait Ben Haddou.

Ait Ben Haddou - The last stop on our tour with Wild Morocco was in Ait Ben Haddou. This place is very famous because scenes of films like Gladiator were shot here. There are also many day tours stopping, which is why it's much more crowded than some smaller Kasbahs we visited during our tour.

This was one of the great things of doing a private tour. We got both: the touristic places and also some places where we were nearly the only tourists.

After doing private tours in Bolivia, Vietnam and now Morocco, I have to say that those tours were always the highlights of our travels. And when doing custom tours it's usually also possible to tune them to my photographic needs ;-)

Sea of Sand - An endless sea of sand in each direction and I couldn't get enough of it. For a change, here's a little wider view of the Erg Chigaga photographed during sunrise.

It's for those views that I wanted to visit the Sahara and thanks to Wild Morocco I was in a prime location for it. The Camp Al Koutban was located perfectly with several higher dunes within an hours hiking distance. This was certainly not my last visit to the Erg Chigaga!

As for the equipment: as usual I was using a Kase Filters Deutschland 0.6 hard GND for such a scene with a flat horizon.
