The church of St. Clare is another gem of Kotor Old Town and its interior (designed by an Italian artist) is considered as one of the most beautiful in the town
The main altar surrounded by 33 white angels
In the church of St. Clare are kept the Incunabula - books written in Kotor in the 13th and 14th centuries

You can enter the old town of Kotor through three gates. The main gate, which we have written about before, is certainly the most famous.
However, the other two gates are no less significant. They date from different times and are located on opposite sides. One is on the north side of the city, the other on the south side, so they are called the North and South Gate respectively
Right next to the North Gate is the Church of St. Mary from the 13th century, and we will write about it in more detail in one of the next posts.

The town on the rocky peninsula Sveti Stefan was first mentioned in the 15th century
The small town, otherwise the former center of the Paštrovići tribe, was built from the loot taken from the Ottoman ships preparing to attack Kotor
There are three churches on the peninsula, the oldest of which is dedicated to Saint Stephen
The island is connected to the mainland by a sandbank created by the action of sea waves and the deposition of sand
Now the peninsula is a town-hotel, until a few years ago it was owned by the luxury hotel chain

Did you know that there are 6️⃣ islands in the Bay of Kotor❓

Although they are less well-known than Our Lady of the Rock and St. George, the 3️⃣ islands in front of Tivat are no less beautiful
Our guests from 🇩🇪 went to a party at , and after that, we took them on a tour of the Island of Flowers, Saint Mark, and Our Lady of Mercy. It was a casual panoramic sightseeing, and a cruise on the Tivat Bay
After that, we enjoyed the sunset for an hour and a half. 🌅

Did you know that the ramparts of Kotor are about 4.5km long, in some places 20m high, and their thickness ranges from 2 to 15m❓

The ramparts of Kotor were raised gradually from the 9th to 18th century, in correspondence with the expansion of the town
The highest point of the walls is the St. John (Sveti Ivan) fortress, which is located at 260m above sea level, from where there is a wonderful view of the lower part of the city and the very end of the Bay of Kotor
The fortress can be reached from two entrances. One is near the Church of St. Mary Collegiate, and the other is near The Square of Salad
Our dear guests from the 🇳🇱 and climbed the fortress 5 years ago 👈 but this time we sat down for lunch at the nice local restaurant where we enjoyed traditional coastal cuisine, as you can see
