On the beach was concert of Rolling Stones and Madonna.
The Island of St. Nicholas is the largest in the southern part of the Adriatic Sea. Length of 2 km. On the island is the Church of St. Nicholas after which the island got its name, which was first mentioned in the 16th century. Perfect for those seeking a little privacy and escape from the crowds. As a curiosity and attraction are the island deers that live here in a natural reserve.
After we make ââsome beautiful photos we continue driving for about ten minutes to reach the Old Town of Budva.
Budva is one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic Sea. It is surrounded by ramparts originating from the XV century including a medieval fortification system with city gates, defense walls and towers. The ramparts spread the Citadel, once powerful military fortress, which in summer sometimes manage to disguise itself as a stage festival ââGrad Teatarââ (\"City Theatre \"). Theatrical performances are also held in a smaller arena \"between churches\" that protect the saints of various denominations - St Mary \"in punta\" (840 .), St Sava (XII-XIII century) and St Trojica (1804.). ââTrg pjesnikaââ (ââSquare poetââ) and ââGrad Teatarââ (ââCity Theatreââ) names point at the festival character of Budva.
Seeing the beauty of Budva and sensing the atmosphere of the Middle Ages we continue with 15 minutes drive to the next photo stop above the island of Sveti Stefan.
Sveti Stefan, a town - hotel, is located on an island connected to the mainland by a narrow strip that has two red colored sandy beaches. Many famous persons have visited Sveti Stefan, among them Sofia Loren, Monica Viti, Willie Brandt, Bobbi Fisher, Sylvester Stallone, Claudia Schiffer and Ingmar Stenmark.
Above Sveti Stefan we remain for 15 minutes and then continue with the trip through Brajici to Cetinje.
Cetinje is known as the historical and cultural capital of Montenegro, and two buildings for which the city is most recognizable are Cetinje Monastery and NjegoĹĄeva Biljarda (Billiard House). Cetinje Monastery is one of the most visited religious center in Montenegro.
Njegusi is the village near Cetinje and its crucial for the history of Montenegro and strongly attached to Cetinje.
The road to Njegusi was the only link with Cetinje and Kotor and with all Montenegrin coast. The road was designed and built by the Austrian engineer from 1878 until 1884. The road constantly rises and reaches an altitude of 1000 m height that provides fantastic views from this road to the \"Bride of the Adriatic\" . The view is hard to describe in words. Each serpertine, and there are 25 of them, presents a spectacular view of the breathtaking Boka Kotorska Bay.
While coming down and nearing the end of our ride we will stop once at Trojica hill to take photos and slowly enter the city crowds of Kotor.
Then we go to Perast. Perast is a quiet and peaceful place. Especially interesting is an island near the city named Gospa od Skrpjela, the only artificially constructed island in the Adriatic Sea and church on the island, builted in 1667 . The island is the size of 3300m2. Next to the island of Our Lady of the rocks is located the island St George with church from the twelfth century. At the peak of power Perast had two shipyards fleet of 100 ships and 1700 inhabitants.
Kotor Old Town, although at the end of our tour, should not be missed.
Kotor is unique for several reasons. It is located on the only natural fjord of its kind in the world and in a bay that has made ââthe list of Most Beautiful Bays in the World. But visiting Kotor is about more than beautiful views-it\'s also about experiencing the cultural heritage of Boka Kotorska Bay.
