If you are a cat lover, Kotor, Montenegro, is an absolute must-visit destination! 🐱This charming medieval town is a home for thousands of cats. Being street cats, they are nicely treated by locals and tourists and happy to be petted. They are not that shy either and will be right away at your table in case you have decided to get some lunch or dinner.

🐈 The legend says that historically cats appeared here when the sailors were coming back home and they had the cats on their ships. Since Kotor is a town between sea and mountains, there were also lots of mice, rats and snakes. Cats were very happy to take care of that little problem and protect the town. So that is why cats have become a symbol of good luck for Montenegro.

🐈‍⬛ In Kotor you will find a lot of dedicated souvenirs shops and there is also The Cat Museum opened in their honour.

😻 Oh yes, and this is little Sophia. She is obsessed with the cats and for her it’s a truly happy place.❤️
