10 GOOD REASONS TRAVEL WITH US

It is important to choose a company that is based in the countries you plan to travel through. Being a Madagascar based company means we are very “hands on” with what is happening in and around Madagascar and we can provide comprehensive local back up to all our operations. We are also a registered company in Madagascar. We employ local people as team on the road and to operate our regional offices; thus contributing to the local economy of the countries.

We offer a friendly and personalized service. The same specialist consultant will normally oversee your tour from start to finish.
Our prices usually include most meals, excursions, flight and transfers, so you know practically how much your holiday will cost. Don’t forget we run our own fleet of vehicles, our prices are very competitive. When you compare our trip price with others companies, you will see that you get what you pay for in terms of what we guarantee.
You can take comfort in the knowledge that your travel are directly benefiting some of the Madagascar‘s threatened ecosystems whilst helping local communities develop in a sustainable and environmentally non destructive way.

We provide the best bi-lingual naturalist guides available, many catering to special interest such as birding or botany. Our drivers have a lot of experience driving overland trucks and come from strong mechanical background. Our cars are comfortable less than 10 years old. Your safety is our top priority.

We personally inspect hotels, resorts and lodges to ensure the highest standards are met and enable perfect tailoring of accommodation to your particular tastes and interests.
Booking with us saves your valuable times and takes away hassle and uncertainty, leaving you relaxed and ready to enjoy your hard earned holiday.

Designing and organizing a successful itinerary can be surprisingly complicated: what can seem straightforward often involves many hidden pitfalls. Over the years we have closely developed the routes we travel on throughout Madagascar, so you can be confident that your trip with Madagascar Tours Explorations will run as smoothly as possible.

Our trips begin in the major cities to connect to flights and are very well set out to cover all the major highlights and much, much more. Our trips are well paced, with time in destinations to explore or relax away from the road.

Explore Madagascar - Trekking Ho overview:

This amazing adventure holiday combines the best of Madagascar's trekking with a chance to experience its great cultural and natural variety.

- A superb trekking holiday visiting the highlights of Madagascar
- Trekking in Isalo and Adringitra National Parks
- Dawn views from Peak Boby, 2nd highest peak in Madagascar
- Unique wildlife spotting, including lemurs and the Indri Indri
- Trek through the stunning rainforest of Ranomafana

This amazing adventure holiday combines the best of Madagascar's trekking with a chance to experience its great cultural and natural variety. Travelling from Tulear on the south-west coast to the capital city of Antananarivo, our first walk is within the Isalo National Park, walking amongst dramatic rock formations, open grassland and forest. A transfer then brings us to the Andringitra Mountains, for a 3-day trek and the opportunity to summit the huge granite dome of Peak Boby (2658m), Madagascar's second highest mountain.

We aim to get to the summit as the sun rises - an unforgettable experience. Continuing our journey north, we enjoy the contrast of a day-walk in the decidedly lush rainforest of Ranomafana, home to medicinal plants and several species of lemurs. Our last stop is in Perinet National Park to see the amazing Indri indri lemur with their distinctive call.

Craft workshop visits, colourful produce markets and village walks allow plenty of opportunity to meet the friendly people of this engaging and little-known land. Providing an unbeatable mix of trekking and sightseeing, this is a dream holiday for nature lovers.

Isalo National Park

Established in 1962, the is located approximately 700 km southwest of Antananarivo and protects 815 km² of sandstone massif wildly eroded by wind and rain into bizarre ridges (known as “runiformes”) featuring wild forms, impressive gorges and canyons and tiny stalagmite pinnacles. The far Wild West reminiscent of the landscape, dominated by rugged massive that rises up from the flat surrounding grassy plain, attracts hikers from the whole world that gather here to admire the sweeping colours of this Jurassic scenery. The climate is dry tropical with warm temperatures all year around.

Though wildlife is here not as prominent as in other parks of the country, there are still a couple of species worth to look out: Ring-tailed lemurs, brown lemurs, sifakas and 14 nocturnal lemurs hide in dense vegetation along the streams.
The park homes also approximately 80 species of birds (including the rare Benson’s rock-thrush, the knob-billed duck or the crested ibis), 35 of reptiles and several endemic frogs.
The flora is indeed more interesting than the fauna. There are several local endemic plants among the 500 species which are found within Isalo, such as the elephant´s foot and some rare palms and aloe species.
