L'Indri, de la famille des indridae
est avec ses 75 à 90 cm taille adulte le plus grand des lémuriens actuels..
Il vit dans les forêts pluviales de l'Est de Madagascar. La région la plus indiquée pour son observation est ANDASIBE une petite réserve naturelle de 810 ha à 1000 mètres d'altitude.
Diurne, vivant en petit groupe de 2 à 10 individus ne dépassant pas un territoire de 7 ha, l'Indri est plutôt folivore. Son régime est constitué de 32 espèces de feuilles différentes, rendant ainsi son élevage en captivité impossible. Soit environ 1,5 Kg de feuilles par jour.
L' Indri descend rarement à terre, et ne le fait que quand il sent un goût acidulé dans son estomac, aussi il le neutralise en mangeant un peu de terre.
