Lampi marine national park island is located at about 50nutical miles away from north-west of Kawthaung in the Mergui Archipelago Area. It's only one marine national park of Myanmar and deisignated as marine national park in 1996, since after visit Myanmar year. National park area was more than 50600 arcas wide, it's combined with major Lampi island and about 20smaller islands are surroundings. The major Lampi island was alittle bent oriented in North to South direction with a lenght of 29miles long and almost 4miles width. It's hilly, rocky coast with many sandy beaches,bays and alot of islets. The island covered by lowland evergreen forest, many different species of mangroves forest along the island river, fresh-water sources and many beaches around the island.
The island protect a rich of biodiversity with many endangered species of birds and 68 different species of mangroves 80 among the world mangroves species. Many areas of island covered by coral reefs, seagrass beds which serve as important habitats for such as molluscs,fishes, seaturtles and one of rare critically endangered species of the area dugongs.
The lampi marine national park also provide food,water and many sources for local Seagipsy Community,who's living around park area.
Lampi marine national park easily can get from either Yangoon, Myanmar or Ranong, Thailand. Everyday, many domestic flights are landing to Kawthaung air-port in the high season which is only take 2hours and 45minutes from Yangoon. Myanmar Union hi-way road from Yangon to Kawthaung have been made by Union Government which takes about 30hour drive by express-bus.
From Thailand, just take 45minutes ride by local long-tail boats accrossing Parchan river from Ranong to Kawthaung and only costs around 300 or 400 Thai Baht.
And then, you can book through Myanmar local licensed tour company to reach Lampi Marine National Park. International visitors are require E-visa or Tourist visa and also special permit which are arranged by local licensed tour company.
