The world’s largest book

Surrounding the pagoda are 729 shrines each containing a single marble slab inscribed in both sides in Burmese script. Together, the 729 slabs are called “the world’s largest book”, each stone slab representing one of its pages.

MAHAR AUNG MYE BON SAN MONASTERY

The Maha Aung Mye Bonzan, well known as Me Nu Oak-Kyaung (Brick Monastery) was built in 1822 by Nanmadaw ME Nu, Chief Queen of King Bagyidaw, for the royal abbot Nyaunggan Sayadaw U Po, then offered to the 2th Nyaunggan Sayadaw U Bok. It was also damaged by the earthquake of 1838 but was repaired in 1873 by Sinphyumashin, the daughter of Me Nu and queen of king Mindon, This monastery if one of the finest specimens of Myanmar architecture during the Konboung Period (19th century), Its architecture is in simulation of wooden monasteries with multiple roofs and a prayer hall of seven-tiered superstructure.

Inwa was located 20km south-west of Mandalay, founded by the Shan King Thadominbya in 1364 . The visitor cross the Myitnge river on a ferry boat and ride around the sites of Inwa by horse cart. There are three main sites in Inwa .

Bargaya Teak wood monastery is supported on 267 teak post, the largest 20 meter high and 3 meter in circumference.

Nan Myint watchtower is all that remains of King Bagyidaw’s Palace complex . The high is 30 meter. The upper potion was shattered by the 1838 earthquake and the rest has taken on a precarious tilt.

Maha Aung Myay Bon Zan monastery is also known as the Menu Oak
Kyaung. Myanmar masonry art and architecture is clearly exemplified by the Maha Aung Myay Bon Zan Monastery , specially built by Nan Ma Daw Menu, Chief Queen of King Bagyidaw in 1822.

Maha Bodhi Ta Htaung is a famous Buddhist region and monastery located in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, Myanmar (Burma). It is famous for the Giant Standing Buddha statue, the second largest in the world, and for the Gratitudes of U Narãda, who built the monastery. The site contains thousands of Buddha images and Bo trees, the Giant Reclining Buddha Image, Aung Sakkyã Pagoda, and other large Buddha Images in the Sãsanǎ region. Many Buddhist monks can study the Buddhist Pariyatti literature at the monastery. Moreover, meditation centres or Vipassãnã centres are opened at the monastic region both for monks and laypersons.
