12 winter visitors and 13 residents of waterbird species were found. Pyukan lake is one of the important wetlands in central Myanmar. It is an important ecosystem for both migratory and resident waterbird species. It is one of the birding site around Mandalay.

Novitiation and ear wearing ceremony
One of the important ceremonies in the tradition of Myanmar Buddhist is novitiation ceremony and ear wearing ceremony (shinpyu Natha Mingalar in Myanmar term). It is the ceremony to novitiate the boys who are between 8 and 20 years. Girls also participate ear wearing ceremony at the same time.

Taung To is one of the village on the eastern bank of Inlay lake. It may take about one and half hour drive (by boat) from Nyaung Shwe. It is very nice place. As it is far from Nyaung Shwe, even it's market day (every five days market) is beautiful, travelers do not use to add Taung To on their visiting list.
If there is every five days market at Taung To village, your plan is to Sam Kar and Tha Khaung, may I recommend to visit Taung To market. After passing colorful mountain tribe market, the narrow path will bring you to the group Taung To pagodas.

Yay Pyan Taung ရေပြန်တောင် ရေတံခွန်
Yay Pyan Taung fall is one of the falls around Pyin Oo Lwin. The fall can be reached one hour drive to peak of the Yay Pyan Mountain by truck then have to trek one hour. All kinds of car can reach to Sin Kaung Lay Village. There are two options: start trek from Sin Kaung Lay village to the fall (almost 3 and half hours) and second option is hire the truck at the Sin Kaung Lay village to the peak of the mountain. Then walk down to the fall. Truck can reach to the peak of the mountain in dry season. It is seven steps fall. The more you go to the base of the mountain; you see the most beautiful fall. Some part of the route to the base of the fall is quite slippery and lots of mosquitoes as it is walking in the wild jungle. The most important recommendation is visit to Ye Pyan fall with local guide. Upon arrival to the fall, due to the beauty of nature and beautiful fall, no more tiredness and your mind will be as fresh as the water from the fall. Spend an hour swimming at the fall. Then walk back to grape farm. The guide will choose different route. The return walking route will end to grape farm. The car can wait you at the grape farm. It may take around 2 hours.
Walking stick, good walking shoes, mosquito’s repellant, swimming suite, tower, drinking water, some fruits and snack are recommendable items to bring when you visit to Yay Pyan Taung Fall.

Deedok falls and blue pond
Deedok fall lays just one hour drive from Mandalay. After leaving the car at the park walk along the narrow and stony lane. 2 or 3 bamboo huts along the way sell local soft drink, snack and coffee. Their another income is collecting sab from wild Almond tree (Bot name - Sterculia Foetida ) in the forest. First 20 minutes is up going then walk in the jungle which is quite flat. After 35 minutes walking start to take the narrow and steep stair toward the fall. June to second week of Oct, planty of water. From November it gets dry and no more fall just enjoy swimming in the blue pond. It will be slippery in raining season because of rocky, narrow and steep route, but nice walking in the green forest to the beautiful fall. If you do not mind for clean dressing room, it is recommendable to bring suite and towers to enjoy swimming in the natural blue pond.

Taw Kwe Fall and Blue Pond (တောကြွယ်ရေတခွန်နှင့်ရေပြာအိုင်)
After driving 3 hours from Mandalay approach to lovely small hill town- Ywa Ngan inhabitant by Danu tribe. There are fertile land endless fields of marrow plantation, sesame fields and coffee plantation. Elephant Head Mountain which lies next to the small river is one of the charming places to stop for some photo shoot along the way. Ywa Ngan is home land in which famous Genius coffee was born. It is recommendable for coffee break at Ywa Ngan. Proceed driving after having fresh coffee, fresh mind to beautiful famous Blue Pond. It is small pond water color is always blue in the middle of small jungle after nice walk along the river and stair. Few minutes visit to local market to try local noodle is not bad experience. Another 15 minutes’ walk will bring you to Taw Kywe fall. It is recommendable trip that attract travelers by traveling in the nature and not popular as main tourist destination. After another half an hour drives Thakhima taung (or) Mein Ma Ye taung which is similar to Taung Kwe zedi at Loikaw. Hundreds of steps will bring you to the top of the hill for amazing panorama over Shan mountain and green valley. Then proceed to Pindaya.
Mandalay - Ywa Ngan – Blue Pond – Taw Kwe – Mein Ma Ye Taung – Pindaya is recommendable road trip travelling from flat land to Shan Mountain. Local travelers prefer day return trip from Mandalay. Those places can be reached by private car as they are saturated on the main road from Mandalay to Pindaya,

Tazaungdai Festival - Light festival
Tazaungmone is 8th month of Myanmar calendar use to fall in November in the Gregorian calendar.29.11.20 is full moon of Tazaungmone and is public holiday in Myanmar. Tazaungdai festival also called festival of lights celebrate all over Myanmar. Almost all stars and planets can be seen in the sky on the night of full moon of Tazaungmone.
Hot air balloons are released into the sky during night time as an offering to all planets and devas.
Taunggyi Tazaungdai festival or Taungyi hot air balloon festival in Shan state is the most spectacular in Myanmar.
Robe-weaving competition use to celebrate at the famous pagoda compound in each region such as Mahamuni temple in Mandalay and Shwedagon pagoda in Yangon. The competition starts from the morning of pre full moon day and work nonstop as the work must finish before 4am of full moon day. Early morning of full moon day, offer robe to venerable pagoda.
Myanmar Buddhists celebrate offering Kathein robe to the monastery individually or in group or by community. Some communities and some cities celebrate Kathein robe offering ceremony richly.
For good luck and good health, all Myanmar eat cassia bud salad on full moon day of Tazaungmone which is one of Myanmar old traditions.
Full moon of Tazaungmone is famous as a thief night. Young men use to move portable things outside of the houses to another places. It makes fun as the owners do not find their belongings outside of the house in the next morning. The owners use to give tip to those men who move and hide their belongings to replace as before.

Egg beating festival Sagaing ( စစ္ကိုင္းဘဲဥထုပြဲ)
When a person say about Sagaing, recognize Sagaing Hill which is holy land and also known as modern Bagan. Egg – beating game at Zina man aung Lawka Chantha pagoda festival at Sagaing is one of the lovely old traditions. As other annual pagoda festival, Zina man aung Lawka Chantha annual pagoda festival holds on full moon day of Tapodwe (use to fall in February).
Pagoda festival lasts for 2 days (pre full moon and full moon day) but the folk game of egg – beating lasts for 3 days. Pre full moon day it the best day for pagoda festival. There are several local entertainments such as cane ball playing, traditional game of currying terracotta pots (Sagaing is famous place for clay pot production especially to keep drinking water), local food stalls, and many shops of local products.
Tradition of egg- beating game can be seen only at the Zina man aung Lawka Chantha pagoda festival. There is small stupa with narrow platform in which egg- beating game played from 5 pm until midnight for 3 days. It is really funny tradition and became very popular for everyone. There are more visitors year by year and the annual pagoda festival is well-known today due to the game.
The festival aims to preserve the country’s culture that date back to the time of King Mindon. King’s servants played the egg – beating game in the evening that became popular game of nowadays.
Visitors to annual pagoda festival enjoyed the game. There are several boiled duck eggs sellers with the bamboo basket cover with the bamboo sieve and traditional oil lamp and sing TAYAUK LO- TAYAUK LO means someone is waiting for partner for egg fighting- someone is waiting for partner for egg - beating . Even there is no customer, boiled duck egg sellers have to sing it. Most game players are friends, try the game for fun.
Two players set their boiled eggs against each other on the bamboo sieve and the top one beats the one at the bottom. The player who can crack the egg considered as the winner. The owner of broken egg is loser and has to pay for boiled eggs. Winner gets all boiled eggs that they have used for the fight. If both eggs crack in the fight, the player whose egg is placed at the bottom is considered the winner.
Before beating boiled eggs, players should check the strongest part of the egg under the oil lump
In the year 2019, boiled duck eggs were sold with the price of 200kyats per unit. Some person gambled for 10-15 eggs.
Festival date on Gregorian calendar cannot be same every year as Myanmar celebrate annual pagoda festival according to lunar calendar.

Naga Land Myanmar
Beautiful Naga Hill is part of Arakan Yoma border of India and Myanmar. The Naga Land gets high annual rainfall and naturally covered with virgin forest. Nagas are famous hunters and decent from Tibet – Myanmar ethnic. There are Nagas tribe in Assam and India. There are over 3 million Nagas, 2 millions of them are in Nagaland in India. Naga tribe lives in Virgin Naga land in Myanmar peacefully. It is small population of over 100,000 Nagas live mostly in the northern part of Myanmar near India – Myanmar border. Their small villages are above 3000 – 4000 feet above sea level. They also live around Khantee, Lashee, Lahe and Nanyun in Sagaing division.
Nagas speak dialect that is part of Tibeto – Burman family, which is part of Sino – Tibetan group. There are many dialects as there are many groups in the Naga tribe.
They traditionally cultivate crops and variety of vegetables and hunt for meat.
Originally Nagas are animist. After British arrival most Nagas became Christians. Even most of them are Baptist, they still keep their tradition. They traditionally believe in spirits, local deities and supernatural forces associated with live events. Pan is their traditional ceremonial house with ritual poles, and a big stone slab support by 3 or 4 pieces of stone they call stone table.
The Naga New Year festival is held on second week of January. The main idea of celebrating New Year is to enjoy the feast end of the year and welcome a better year of harvest. During New Year Festival, hundreds of Nagas gather to the place where there is festival with their distinct traditional dress and make amazing traditional dance. Each Naga tribe group has its own distinct style of dance. For hunting dance, dancers hold swords and spears and dance in a circle in an effort to drive away evil spirits.

Mawlamyine - Mon State - Myanmar
Mawlamyine is the capital of Mon State in Myanmar. Formerly known as Mawlamine. Mawlamyine was captured by British and served as their capital in the year 1276.
There are several interesting places around Mawlamyine.
Seindon monastery donated by the queen of King Mindon who was founder of Mandalay Palace is one of the tourist attractions of Mawlamyine. Seindon monastery shows the richest Myanmar wood curving of 19th century friendship between Myanmar and Italy as there are beautiful glass ware from Italy decorated at the floor of inner shrine.
Next to Seindon monastery there is stair to go up to peaceful Kyaikthalan pagoda, sunset time is the best for panorama over Mawlamyine city and Thanlwin River.
Bilu Island just opposite bank of Thanlwin River. The Island is big , several villages such as Ywalut village, Mudon village, Chaung Sone village, Taung Son village are recommendable to visit. Bilu Island can be reached by car from Mawlamyine easily after the government made the bridge. It was funny to visit villages on Bilu Island by small boat in past time. Each village has own specialties that gives the focal points to visit
Winsein tawya, the largest reclining Buddha, Hpaauk tawya meditation center, Zin Kyaik fall, Death Railway museum at Thanphyuzayet, Panga village, Ngwalabo pagoda are highlight to visit around Mawlamyine.
Boat trip between Mawlamyine and Hpa an is also one of the interesting options.
Drive towards Hpa an, Khayone cave, U Hna auk monastery Kayin villages can be visited.
Mawlamyine lies 6 hours drive from Yangon should not miss stopping at Thahtone, Bago and Mon villages.
There is daily public bus between Yangon and Mawlamyine.

Sagaing is one of the famous tourist destinations in Myanmar. It can be reached from Mandalay (20 munutes drive). Sagaing is situated on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy river, can be also reached by river way. After the fall of Bagan, three brothers from high land, come down to flat land: each one decided to establish their own capital: one is in Innwa or Awa, second one at Pinny and the third one at Sagaing. For some years Sagaing had been Capital of Myanmar. Now Sagaing is famous town for holly Sagain Hill which was covered by over four hundred monasteries of Buddhist monks and Buddhist nuns. Myanmar Buddhist has religious tradition of sending their sons to Buddhist monastery to give religious heritage when they are 9-12 years old.
Interesting places around Sagaing
Soon Oo Ponnya Shin pagoda lies on top of Sagain Hill and should visit for beautiful panorama.
U Min Thoneze temple is unique for series of 45 sitting Buddha images.
Yokeson monastery is charming place well decorated fine 19th wood curving.
Myaseikkya monastery is one of the recommendable places to visit which is situated at the base of Sagaing Hill. It is school for over 200 Buddhist monks.
There is another place should visit at Sagaing is Aung Myay Oo monastic education center. Most nuns and novices who study at that school are from different regions of Myanmar.
Terracotta village, paper toy maker village and hay paper maker villages are short distance from Sagaing.
Egg beating festival for 2 days, on pre full moon day of Tabaung and full moon day of Tabaung (February) is one of the outstanding festival in Myanmar.
