Miss Earth Myanmar Miss Earth is an annual international environmental-themed beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. It was organized by Carousel Productions and launched the first Miss Earth beauty pageant in 2001. It started as an international environmental event with the mission of channeling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote actively the preservation of the environment. The pageant has tie ins with Philippine government agencies, such as the Philippine Department of Tourism, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, as well as international environment groups such as the United Nations Environment Programme and the American Global Release to further its environment advocacy. Those who participate in the pageant are involved with humanitarian and environmental causes. In October 2001, Miss Earth adopted the slogan ‘Beauties for a Cause’, and the first prize was awarded in 2003. In 2004, the Miss Earth Foundation was created to further the pageant’s causes and to work with local and international groups and non-governmental organizations that are actively involved in conservation and improvement of environment. The Miss Earth pageant has grown over the years, with an increasing number of countries participating each year. In 2017, Miss Earth Organization selected and assigned one authorized person as a National Director to implement Miss Earth Myanmar pageant and perform environmental awareness activities in Myanmar. And this will be the fourth time for Myanmar to participate in this contest. Miss Earth Myanmar Pageant will not be just an ordinary beauty contest but to promote environmental awareness and initiate the public to participate actively in environmental awareness activities. Vision: Miss Earth Myanmar is well recognized by the public (both domestic and international) as an international standard pageant contest that promote the environmental awareness through different awareness raising activities with the beauties of Miss Earth Myanmar! Objectives - To organize the Miss Earth Myanmar Pageant as an international standard beauty contest with the theme to promote environmental awareness - To organize series of environmental awareness raising activities and campaign where the winners of pageants dedicate their time to serve as the Ambassador - To work and collaborate with stakeholders (both public and private sectors) for environmental awareness raising and policy advocacy for a better, cleaner and greener environment
