Shwemawdaw Pagoda is a powerful pagoda that enshrined Buddha's teeth. It is located on the Shwemawdaw hill which is about 6 miles outside of Bago City. It is one of the tallest pagodas in Myanmar with a height of 374 meters.
The pagoda has been affected by earthquakes many times, but it was renovated and worshiped by the successive kings of the ancient Mon Myanmar, so it can still be seen today along with the 121 peripheral pagodas.
If you visit Shwemawdaw Pagoda, you will see the great banana bud that collapsed due to the Bago earthquake but did not break into pieces. The following items can be found in Shwemawdaw Pagoda. They are: the mantras and bell inscribed with mantras that are donated by Dhammasayti King, the figure of the Orge Mother that fell in northern Pisian due to the earthquake in 1292, and Buddha sculptures in Shwemawdaw museum that are excavated from Pre-Bagan, Bagan, Ava (Inwa), Hanthawaddy, Konbaung period and about 1,500 years old Burmese art like Shwe Nawzagone, iron bricks, bronze bricks and clay bricks and golden Kyauk Pyin that was donated by Princess Raja Datukalya.
