Twante City : Overview
Twante is well known associated with the Twante Canal which was named after Twante. The 35 km-long canal is a heavily used for the short-cut between the city of Yangon and the Ayeyarwaddy Division until the 1990s when roads became usable year round. Twante Canal was constructed in 1881 during the British time and opened in May 1883.It serves as the quickest route from Yangon to the Delta Region. Twante is a traditional pottery center since early times. Do you know? George Orwell famous English Writer (1903–1950) was a police officer in Twante, during the British rule in Myanmar. Thanlyin City : Overview
Thanlyin (Syriam) Thanlyin was an important Port City of Ancient Mon Dynasty and Trading Center from the 14th century to the 17th century and the earliest Portuguese establishment by Portuguese mercenary Filipe de Brito in the early 16th century. The colonial town of Syriam was built by the British for its port and petroleum refinery plant. It is also a sub-urban town right a few miles away from Yangon across two bridges. Today, Thanlyin is home to local universities as well as its Thilawa port is still serving as the largest and busiest port in the country which handles the container ships and oil tankers. Indeed, excursion to Thanlyin will give you a chance to see a sub-urban town near Yangon and a taste of country-side as the town itself is old and interesting.

Bago City : Overview
Bago- was the capital city of the Hanthawady Kingdom for many centuries under the Mon and Myanmar monarchs. Bago earns the fame of King Bayintnaung relatively, the founder of the Second Myanmar Empire who possessed many white elephants. King Bayintnaung (1551-81) was not only considered the great king of Myanmar but also a legendary ruler in Southeast Asia’s popular history. He is mentioned in Thai literature. He unified his country and conquered the Shan States and Siam (now Thailand), making Myanmar the most powerful kingdom in mainland Southeast Asia. Today, his palace Kambawza Thardi has been reconstructed to its exact replica.
Once a splendid city and important seaport, located on the eastern bank of Bago River, it served as a collecting center for Paddy, bamboo and timber logs. It is famous for its cheroot industry; Bago makes many brands of this typically Myanmar product. Salt, dried fish and a variety of handicraft are also available as well as there are bustling Markets and several ancient historic Pagodas to explore. We can say your visit to Bago will definitely reveal the high culture of ancient Myanmar and flourishing of Buddhism.
