Why does the Shwedagon Pagoda sometimes have scaffolding?

The scaffolding you see is for taking care of this golden treasure. Workers climb up to clean, fix, or add fresh gold leaves to keep the pagoda shining bright.

It also helps after storms or earthquakes to check and repair any damage. This care has kept Shwedagon standing tall and beautiful for over 2,500 years.

A little work today means its golden glow will last for generations. ✨ Photo Credit to Original Owner.

Have you ever seen women with long necks wearing brass rings?

Meet the Padaung women of Myanmar, famous for their unique tradition of wearing brass coils around their necks. These rings don’t stretch their necks but gently push down their shoulders, creating the look of a longer neck – a symbol of beauty in their culture.

Starting as young girls, they add more rings as they grow. Living in Kayah State, these women are also skilled weavers, making beautiful crafts while preserving their traditions.

Their story is a beautiful part of Myanmar’s heritage. 🪡✨

Let’s talk about the endangered Popa Langur.

Found only in Myanmar, this rare species has fewer than 300 left, living in Mount Popa, Hpa-an, Bago Yoma, Panlaung, and Ywangan. Their numbers are declining due to deforestation, farmland expansion, poaching, and the pet trade.

It’s time to act and protect these unique primates before it’s too late.

During his stay, he embraced simplicity, sleeping in a basic room with just a bed, a pillow, and no mattress, dedicating himself to mindfulness and inner peace. This humbling experience at one of Myanmar’s serene meditation centers serves as a reminder of the power of stillness and reflection.
