CHEN QUISHI MISSING since Feb 6 - I have been watching for a while Mr. Chen’s brave youtube videos - he seemed to be (together with Fang Bin) the only source where one could grasp the real situation what is going on in Wuhan. He now ‘vanished’ since Feb 6 and it is told that he got taken for ‘quarantine’. The Chinese government issued beg. of February a decree that anyone who visited hospitals can be taken for quarantine. How convenient is that in the case of Mr. Chen.
On Jan 31 Mr. Chen reported that during just 1.5 hours when watching at the front gate of Hanouk funeral Parlor 4 vehicles with dead bodies were already passing. It is more than obvious that not only a handful of persons are dying per day but much more.
Above all we have to listen to the airheaded comments from WHO literally THANKING and PRAISING China for its actions (shame on them) as well as intl. news how great and admirable China is helping its people and building a 1000 bed hospital in a week... and now what?
The numbers are the utmost joke. Abt 814 deaths on Feb 8 and Feb 7: 724 deaths (not even a difference of 100 and that includes whole China). And not to forget … Xi Jinping 'missing in action' (for what reason ever) for 3 days as well. What’s next?

Combining work with pleasure in Nay Pyi Taw:
Myanmar's surreal 'fallen from the sky capital'...the former junta's legacy, offers a dramatic scenery, the Uppatasanti Pagoda (noticeable from almost anywhere in the city) with its awesome ceiling ornaments, white elephants, wide empty boulevards (what a delight compared to Yangon's traffic jam challenge) and not to forget the stunning parliament building's complex with a moat running round it. Nightlife? Very quiet but water show performances at Water Fountain Garden, a one woman night bazar you might detect, lit up green lotus flower sculptures and Kempinski's Bar will be sufficient for the one night stay.

What a blessing to have a new tourism ministry set up and surely
without the usual 'gado' loving peeps (receiving exquisite Bagan lacquerware to hard currency :) ... I will never forget one of my last meetings in 2012 in one of their offices showing my daughter and me how unwelcome we 'foreigners' are... and them defending our former director although she had and still has an open police case.
First time in all the years that I do agree with the choice of a tourism minister. After 25 years I am looking forward to a happy and prosperous tourism era in Myanmar.
