One of the highlights of our ongoing bird and mammal watching trip, the Relict Gulls. They allowed us to get enough close for seeing them without any haze in this hot desert. (Sorry for the shaky video made with a phone on scope without an adapter)

A steppe rat snake is trying to swallow an egg of a rock dove nested in a local herdsman’s spare ‘ger’.

Having this observation while sitting on top of Altai mountains looking for snow leopards is almost like a normal thing in Mongolian Gobi. Argali is the world’s largest living wild sheep and these two males are fighting for dominance.

One of our recent trail cameras revealed the Eurasian Lynx that was catching a Goitered Gazelle in every two days. Then we decided to come here and could manage taking this video. There is a small pond surrounded by these thick bushes and it is one of very few ponds in the gobi desert. It is quite obvious that this is the perfect habitat for this lynxes and the locals are also saying that traces of lynxes have been noticed in last years, so this might be the best location to see these lynxes in Gobi. The good thing here is that only a few locals who know about the existence of this beautiful creature care for the environment and they are all local rangers.

A very rare sighting of the world’s rarest bear, the Gobi Bear - Ursus arctos gobiensis. Ther are only around 30-40 gobi bears left in the world. This is the only bear that can survive in these harsh conditions of the Gobi Desert: temperatures range from +45 degrees celsius to -40 degrees and there is less than 5-20cm of rainfall a year.
